England in India - Oct to Jan 2012/13

Well I feel England should have used more brains on judging Motera wicket on history basis then mind games. All focus was on return of Yuvraj, how stupid Tendulkar is and how to not give him respect and spinners. What they forgot is SEHWAG. No matter how out of form he was, he was about to score BIGG and he has just done that.

Motera's past history.. Srilanka vs India - DRAW
New Zealand vs India - DRAW.

So if New Zealand can draw here then England have a better batting lineup and if they are not able to draw then it shows how much do they fare on even a flat pitch. They should then only be playing in garden on completely grassy surface :p

England should have tried attritional cricket a while ago. They should have reverted to just boring out the Indian batsman and taken the game to stalemate, but they've played into India's hands really. Certainly England should turn this into a draw, but I guess we'll see how they cope with a potentially demoralising spell in the field mixed with some mental scarring from their last away tours.

Sehwag may be out now, but for me the batting lineup just gets stronger once past him anyway :p

Finally, England break Sehwag..... But the thing is, by this innings, Sehwag has shown that England can be toyed with on this wicket and hopefully the likes of Sachin, Kohli, Yuvraj and Dhoni should cash in. Heck, even Ashwin is there who has a test century.

Should definitely get slower now, the game.... Sad thing is with Tendya batting at 3:20am here for me in the morning, I have to hit the bed. :(

Pujara looks a lovely player. Effortlessly wristy and technically sound...

Well, that's gotta go down as a dropped catch from Bell :lol

Looks like someone confusingly blamed the pitch instead of saying "they like watching only technically good looking players". :rolleyes

I was optimistic at first that England would get wickets steadily enough, but Sehwag scoring a 100 is all the evidence needed that this is a total road. It's hard to tell if England's missed opportunities are a result of giving up or being put to sleep.

For someone that supposedly hates Sehwag and tries to get rid of him at every opportunity, Dhoni looked overjoyed when he got to his 100, he probably couldn't believe what he was seeing. :p

Hmm, can't help but look back at missed half chances now. Pujara before he'd reached double figures and Sehwag 30 runs before he got out. England should be well in this, but as it is, will still require a collapse to stand a chance of winning this.

If those emotions were genuine then it's good for the team, but I doubt whether they were genuine as the camera was constantly on him since Sehwag reached the 90s.

If you have to be perfect in the field to get the other team 4 or 5 for 300, I don't think things are really in your favour.

Idk how that justifies anything, but okay...

That's stumps, pretty happy with what we've got so far, I'll take 324/4 after a days play every day of the week. Important we push on tomorrow though, look to pile on the runs before the pitch crumbles, which I predict to be later tomorrow or the day after.

A good day for team India. Good to see Sehwag and Gambhir getting runs. Pujara has always been a treat to watch and today again he proved that how vital he is to this batting lineup. Bit disappointed by Sachin as I wanted to see him spending a bit more time on crease. Kohli wasn't playing well but I can't complain about him because I know that he will catch up. Yuvraj is looking good right now so hopefully we can post a good total. One thing I noticed was the spin. There was a decent amount of spin for Greame Swann on the first day so that is also a good sign for India as it is gonna turn even more on remaining days.

Excellent batting from Sehwag, all the haters calling for his head should bow don in shame now! In comparison Sachin continues to fail! Exciting inns from Pujara thus far, pitch looks flat though, still backing England for the series and this the first test!

We've clearly got the wrong team here. I reckon Bresnan is only in because Cook wasn't sure Broad's fitness was good enough to be one of two seamers. Patel is not a front line spinner.
Easy with hindsight but Panesar should have played instead of Bresnan (or even instead of Broad).
The way we've batted against spin these past 12 months India already have enough runs.
