England in India - Oct to Jan 2012/13

How dirty are the BCCI, like seriously, they broadcast all of India's games and so they have all control over what's part of the program and what's not part of the program, apparently technology of any sort isn't. Done to not bring up any questions to anyone's mind regarding the whole DRS debate, dirty bastards, let the viewers enjoy the game ffs.

Sehwag said India were far from having sealed the decisive advantage. Asked if the game was as good as over, Sehwag said, "I don't think so, because we have to work hard to take 20 English wickets. They are not Bangladesh or somebody else. They are a very good side, No. 2 at the moment. They will not throw their wickets for sure."

LMAO Sehwag...

Though the no. of runs scored in the session is not much, we didn't lose a wicket and we grinded England further in the conditions. Hope they go on further and bury England further. I would want India to bat another session and an hour more in this innings. Score 80-90 runs in session 2, and then score 50-60 quickly in the one hour of Session 3. Would give us 130-140 more runs (a total of 540-550), which should be enough for us to have a go at England with our spinners....

Great going Pujara! And Yuvraj is doing himself favors here with this innings. He is a far better option than Raina in tests.

Pujara looked a bit embarrassed after completing his century, the subdued celebration and sheepish smile indicating the deadness of the pitch.

The lack of DRS saved Yuvraj in the opening overs. Might've made things a little more interesting if the correct decision was made.

I'd like to see Dhoni declare after tea time tomorrow. Any score over 500 will be sufficient.

I'd bat on, make sure you only have to bat once. Chances are you won't need to, even with 500 on the board, but you can go all out attack without worrying about the possibility of having to bat again

Also it grinds down the England side having to field for two whole days, not something any side wants to do. Leave the openers guessing when they might have to bat, knowing they need to concentrate for any catches coming their way as they need to end the innings.

I bet Cook is kicking himself only going with one proper spinner, while Trott wasn't resorted to KP was and Patel was as ineffectual as I knew he would be - still better to have two spinners though, a better second spinner would have been good

Swann/Patel/KP : 68-12-191-5 (Ave 38.20, ER 2.81, SR 81.60)
Anderson/Broad/Bresnan : 58-8-216-0 (Ave n/a, ER 3.72, SR n/a)

So the two 'main' spinners have bowled more overs than the THREE seamers, fancy that :rolleyes Maybe a drop or two might have been caught and the seamers have an average of 108 or even 72, but we've made life difficult for ourselves thinking we might get away with Patel as second spinner. It was predictable England would do it, the warm up matches all pointed to it. Three hundred seamers given a go, Patel playing all the games I believe.

Still, it won't be the first time we've lost the first Test of any series.

I'd like to see England score 556 at any point in this series.

Thats only possible if Kevin stays on crease. The innings he played in Sri Lanka was sensational and he is long overdue after the controversies. For England its going to be Kevin doing something sensational and Cook supporting him well.

But somehow I have a feeling that Nick Compton will shine this series as India has a habit of making a debutante look super good. Compton might be good for sure but come on he isnt the best.

So in short Cook,Compton and Kevin will have to do the major work.

For India Ashwin and Zak will rip though. Zak loves bowling to lefties

Really impressed to watch Pujara bat.In his such early days in Test cricket,he has got a very good temperament.I am rooting for his 200 here.Even the pitch is a batsman paradise but still i liked the way he batted in the innings

Finally a milestone worth celebrating. Pujara's innings has gotta be worth at least 50 anywhere else, well done to him :clap Anything less, and the rush of blood he had early on when he put one down Anderson's throat might have caused some alarm amongst the selectors.

he'll have question marks until he can replicate his form overseas but with the retirement of so many batting legends recenty, and another couple still to go in the non too distant future, india are going to need batsmen that can keep their home turf a fortress so regardless of it being a big score on deadish pitch unearthing players like pujara is vital. very well done to the lad.
