England In India - October 2011/12

A pretty good score by India, at one stage it could have been a lot better. But how match fit is Praveen? He pulled some thing at the end of the innings. Doesn't look too bothered while bowling though. Let's hope he manages to stay fit for the remaining matches.

Hope Vinay Kumar gets more of such treatment that makes Dhoni ditch him completely!:mad When you already have Praveen who is military medium at one end, can't you think of having a more faster bowler at the other end and pick Varun Aaron? Idiotic of Dhoni to open the bowling with two military medium bowlers.

just for my kind info, will it be a whitewash if india loses 4-0 to eng the ODI series?:rolleyes

This has to be England's greatest ever batting performance against a top side, atleast for me. Incredible stuff from the top 3, Bopara looked really confident in his brief cameo. Fielding was top notch from Belly and bowling was sublime from Swann and Jimmy. Top OD stuff!

Loved this btw. :D

The Indian team hasn't been this disgraced and embarrassed in years. A question to all the Indian fans, how is the media back home taking this??

I guess they are brushing it off as a one-off thing. So far, no major reactions back home. The BCCI is not going to do anything about it. I mean come on - how can they let Dhoni play bowlers who are purely slow medium and let them open the bowling? When you have picked a express fast bowler (Varun Aaron), you got to play him and Dhoni DOESN'T!! Or atleast RP Singh who is backup for Zaheer, and even he doesnt play. Whats this fascination with the likes of Vinay Kumar and Munaf Patel? Today Praveen was smashed and it all came to pieces. Ashwin took some wickets but he is coming to terms with bowling outside the subcontinent and that too in an intl match.

Dhoni's captaincy was bound to be tested heavily this tour, and sad to say his captaincy has failed spectacularly and it is a major reason why we have been so pathetic and disgraceful on this tour (we could still have been extremely competitive and good despite injuries but we haven't).

before this match i was saying why indians are criticizing Dhoni? i am also against his captaincy.England hammering you,You are bringing Kohli, who went for something like 16 and then you brought Raina for more disgrace.I know you don't have five bowlers but if you don't pick up quick wickets you can't win.Bring your best Bowlers in attack,And honestly these part timers won't give you wickets without conceding qUICK RUNS

How can you possibally blame Dhoni for failure of the tour? Like seriously, this has been problem from Indian fans that they always blame their captain when something bad happens. Did you see How Varun Aaron got smashed in last practice match? He was horrible and at the same time Vinay did bowl in T20 and also in 1st India which initially got washed out and he bowled well. His line and length was accurate most of the time. I know he didn't perform well today but that does not mean we blame Dhoni. Before giving to part timers, he gave overs to all our main 4 bowlers and they all were hit for more than 10 an over. And than he started giving it to part timers. He was changing field after almost every 2 balls but the pitch was heaven for batsman and our poor bowling has cost us the match. Dhoni has done nothing wrong.

I will like to see how this new guy Varun goes. Indian fans here are hyped up about his pace. It will make for an interesting viewing if and when Dhoni debuts him.

Sorry but that was a pointless game, they made sure they got a game and kept their ????? but it was not a LOI so it begs the question, what was the point? It constitutes a result but in no way, shape or form resembled a proper 50 OVERS match.

I said somewhere else, maybe in this thread, perhaps they need to put the ODIs before the Tests when it's summer and not SEPTEMBER. Is it a case of putting the cart before the donkeys? :D

India probably should have won, but England do seem to be better at the long and shortest versions of the game. I wonder if it is because they are capable of attacking, but not great at sustaining attacking cricket so get away with it in T20Is and it doesn't matter in Tests. And any failings with bowling is not exposed so much over 20-23 overs, over 10 overs I think India would have made more of our lesser bowlers.
