England In India - October 2011/12

What was?

Good comeback by India, still feel they will be short though, I'm seeing nothing in this pitch that doesn't indicate it isn't a 270 or so, but they have given themselves a total to work with.

india are short but Cook needs to work on tightening the noose. He let India go after the first 20 or so overs.

Yep, overs 21-48 looked a total walkover from England's (Cook's) part. Anderson really shouldn't have bowled at the death, should have rather bowled once the second new ball was taken. Swann was magnificent IMO after Jimmy's initial outburst, kept it really tight albeit no breakthroughs.

This is where the problems come. Cook and Trott not scoring well enough so pressure builds. It's all very well to go at that rate, as long as a big score comes. Big day for Bell and Bopara. If they're good enough, now is the time to prove it. Spinners bowling well though.

Big day for Stokes too, surviving some tight LBW's here, but right calls being made so far. Umpires having a good game.

Yeah, I posted that before I realised that Stokes came out before Bopara. Gotta feel for Stokes though, the first time he gets a bat and it's turning square on him.

Just when India looked like getting on top, rain comes and stalls them. Disgusting this (unfortunately for us).:mad Hope play resumes because it would hurt to lose the match because of rain when we were just surging back up in the game.

Looks like Jadeja has come out here with a motive to prove his detractors wrong and show his worth as an allrounder. His innings of 78 was just extraordinary viewing, and so far his bowling has been tight and on the money (he setup Kieswitter and cleaned him up beautifully). I have always said Jadeja is a better ODI player than a T20 player and he can be persisted with in ODI's, while he should never be played in T20's where we could manage with Yuvraj's left arm options if we cant find another hard hitting allrounder. Ashwin has also been having an excellent match (36 off 19 balls, and a beautiful wicket of Trott with great economy figures)

Yup, just too much hype.

----------

He was not picking Ashwin at all. He looked like getting out to him even in the previous over.

He's a good player. Very good. He was just very nervous by the look of it.

He's only 20, I think it's great he's being given an opportunity in the side, frustrating that he can't bowl, as we're missing out on watching a substantial part of his game.

He struggled, but worked through it and then got himself out.

Ravi going very well in tough conditions.

Edit: Next ball is stumped, lots of turn. Actually looks like it hit the bail before Dhoni whipped off the bails.

Lost another game!( Poor poor attitude from Munaf Patel. As Gavaskar said, he expects his fielders to become Superman when he bowls, but when he himself fields, he acts like an lazy 80 yr old man who is rooted to his ground with Fevicol. And his bowling this game has been very poor. Jadeja and Ashwin tried their level best to help India win the game (including Dhoni) but our fast bowling is pathetic (Dhoni deserves blame for that, he still does not want to try Aaron).

Cant win the series now. Wont be surprised at another whitewash 4-0. But happy to see Jadeja and Ashwin's efforts (more so Ashwin because he batted and bowled very well today; all round performance from both these guys). If Ashwin can bat like that consistently, Harbhajan's batting wont be missed much (his bowling has gone to the dogs already).
