England In India - October 2011/12

Broad's come on and knocked over two Indians, we just give them a start and then bring on our better bowlers now? More evidence not to have included Finn, he did nothing in 6-0-31-0 and then once Broad comes on we knock two over just like that.

I'm going to say something in jest, but don't be too surprised if it happens. I would not be shocked if we knocked another couple over quickly and then brought on the reserves (bowlers) to allow India a 100 partnership and a way back into the game :rolleyes

Well rather predictably Cook has turned to Bopara to bowl a few overs of nothing in the hope it makes something, or simply because England captains are insecure and try to get through a few overs of part-timers so they don't have to use all the overs of the main bowlers (what they're in the side for, but hey ho)

England need to review their tactics, no good looking at a few results and thinking it must be "bad luck" when they lose or "not their day". Bopara is a tidy bowler, but when wickets create pressure then bringing on a part-timer just releases any (hope of) pressure and we end up giving the batsmen a chance to build or just pick up easy runs.

"Do what your opponent would like you to do least" - something I think I hear on TMS, probably Boycs. Does ANYONE on the planet, Cook included, think Bopara is the bowler India don't want to face? When all else fails perhaps, but not when you've made a breakthrough :facepalm

Well what a master tactician, delaying bringing Swann on just long enough for his entrance to be spectacular! Or maybe just giving away 12 free runs when Swann would have made a big impact.

Now what he should do is bowl Swann one end and rotate Bresnan, Anderson and Broad from the other - perhaps Finn if need be so he can bowl his overs out if required. If the seamers aren't doing much then maybe try something else, not that we have a spin option do we? Oh for the days of Hick, top ODI batsman and more than useful spinner.

They've only played about 3 good shots against him. He's conjured a great number of edges, but in particular a nick straight through the gap between keeper and the wide slip in the 8th over. Can only blame England's mighty strategists for that one not resulting in a wicket.

Yeah, he did actually bowl really well. He was unlucky to go for the runs he did, but that comes with pace I guess. They really did not have any idea against him, especially Rahane. I still think England shouldn't play the four quicks. ODI cricket is a spinners game I would have had Patel instead of Bresnan.

We keep on bowling Anderson at the wrong time. He's great at the start of the innings and looks good in the middle overs in tandem with Swann, so why not get him out the way early? He could be our wicket-taking threat in the overs 25-40 or so, yet we always keep a few overs back so he can be slogged. Leave the last few to the likes of Bresnan, Broad and Dernbach when he plays.

Good stuff from Raina-Dhoni there. Arrested a collapse & added 169 in 24 overs.

I sense an Indian victory here....:D

I think this has became a habit now that first lose 4 or 5 wickets and then rebuild.
Well but Dhoni and Raina did really well today. Really hoping that we can win this game.

I've never understood the logic in playing Bell, a-not-able-to-bowl Stokes & Bopara ahead of a 'rested' Kevin Pietersen, when KP pretty much devours the other 3 statistically? Yes, his form over the last two years has been dreadful, but as they say - form is temporary, class is permanent. He was just beginning to find that form again with the bat, having top scored in the test series, which further baffles me regarding his absence! England really need to come up with a miracle if they're to win this game and the winter ODI tour in India.

I hope so too... But its embarrassing to hear the likes of Nasser Hussain feel sympathetic on us and want us to win today just because of the way we have played this tour.

This partnership between Bell and Bopara is already starting to hurt us. Hope we can get it out soon!

Sympathetic? Maybe ....or who knows...he might want India to win today so that the series doesnt get over today itself :rolleyes

Just saw cricinfo. Christ, Raina and Dhoni added 100 runs in the last 8 overs

Still might loose though. Belowpara proving his worth :p

Disgusting... The previous over, India were ahead of the D/L by 2 runs and the rain came in and the umpires and the England batsmen were so so sluggish to leave the field. The next over, England overtake the D/L par score, rain comes in again, and Bopara and Swann (along with the umpires) dash into the dressing room as if the Lord's field has caught fire.....

So much bad luck for India this series. I pity our boys. Well played boys, well played! Keep at it.

This is seriously ridiculous.Cant get unluckier than this.
