England In India - October 2011/12

To some Indian fans being too overconfident: Calm down and think realistically.

I don't care even if we lose but the most exciting thing is we get so this youngsters playing and getting some international experience.
I agree. I couldn't care less who wins this - it's only ODIs after all, 4 years away from the World Cup, and India's key players are out.

I'm excited by the prospect that in the next couple years the BCCI is finally going to try out some new bowling talent instead of sticking with the tried and failed faces of Sree/Mishra/Harbhajan/RP. And Ishant repeatedly in ODIs.

Zak's career might well be over too. So looking on in the future, our ODI bowling core should focus around Praveen, Vinay, Munaf, Jadeja, Ojha, Ashwin and some new faces. Aarvind, Yadav, Aaron, Rahul, and hopefully successful comebacks for the likes of Irfan, Balaji and RP(with some match practice). Maybe even guys like Unadkat and Chahar somewhere down the line. Chawla too?

As for tests...hope we see Bhajji, Mishra and Sree dropped there too.
Ishant, Praveen, Munaf, Ojha, Ashwin...and some new faces.

They're also going about replacing Laxman, Dravid and Sachin. And getting ready to replace Viru when the time comes. Rahane, Mukund, Kohli, Tiwary, Pujara, Raina...hopefully Pandey, Rayudu as well in years to come. Parthiv as backup keeper/opener.

What I really hope to see from the BCCI is something being done about managing the player's workload, and getting more FC cricket for the fringe players. And more accountability for selections.

But it's good to see some pro-activeness now. Good start.

I don't really expect India to win all the five games, like how we did last time- but Indian win is expected, 4-1 or 3-2. India is expected to perform poorly for upcoming 4-5 years, the same phase which Aussies went in 2009-11. They're getting settled now, and India is getting demolished now slowly.

Time to find v2 of Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly, Laxman and Kumble:thumbs- and it has begun!

Well, we did have an opportunity to test Aaron in England. But, unfortunate;y he was not tested out there. So, even if we have decent fast bowlers, they aint been given adequate chances.
Was quite different under Ganguly who actually believed in giving chances to youngsters,at the same time maintaining a balance of youth+ experience.

I think Aaron isn't going to get a game for a while. He's still raw, they're probably having him around so Fletcher can get a look at him and he can gain some net practice and experience from the seniors.

But now with Aaron, Yadav and Aarvind in the squad, he might get a game.

Right you are Zorax, but dont you think it would have made sense to check him out in England where our none of our seamers really made an impact ? This time round though, he should end up playing atleast one game, unless the selectors decide to alter squads after a couple of games.

Maybe in the last ODI, but I sense they were just desperate to get a win out of somewhere. Which they didn't.

Aaron might still not get a game considering that Dhoni loves bowlers like Praveen and Vinay (Praveen makes up for his lack of pace with guile and swing). Adding to the fact that we are playing in India, Dhoni might play Jadeja as a specialist bowler along with Ashwin and have Raina/Kohli do the fifth bowlers duties (thereby beefing up our batting heavily).

P.s: I just wish Wasim Akram has other things to do rather than keep commenting on Indian cricket. Now he says Harbhajan doesn't deserve the axe. Who else does? He has been so poor and out of form for quite a while now. An exclusion of this kind will be the best thing to spur him (if it does)

See harbhajan has done well for india in ODI cricket. Dhoni uses harbhajan as choke up bowler not as wicket taker. So considering that harbhajan has done well for india in ODI.

I am sure dhoni will use 3 - 4 spinner for every ODI, as he likes to play choke up game.

Even in world cup dhoni was doing same thing. Choke up the runs with spinner and then bringing Zaheer to Knock over the set batsman.

Been seeing him quite often in Hard Rock Cafe' Hyderabad. Well, he is almost fully Indian now, given that ESS has given him a very lucrative job offer.

Pooh ! He should have been dropped long ago.

As for Dhoni, yes he likes to choke it up, but without the services of any good wicket-taking bowler, it would be difficult for him to do so.
R Ashwin ,on the other hand is an attacking off-spinner, like we saw in the World Cup. Hope he performs better than Bhajji.

MSD doesn't use Bhajji to choke the runs...I distinctly remember him turning to him on several occasions when he needs wickets.

Bhajji more or less sets his own fields, so he's the one who chooses to go on the defensive as soon as he gets the ball.

I don't care who wins. Just wanna see good cricket as it was in England.

Abu Nechim has been around and talked about for a while. He went to the ICL which really dent his chances, but yea, he's a prospect. I think the selectors are ignoring him for some reason though.
