England In India - October 2011/12

Can someone tell me why on earth Graham Onions is nowhere near the squad?? I haven't even heard him talked about once. I would have him over both Broad and Bresnan anyday, before he got injured he bowled pretty well in the few tests he did play. I really cannot understand why Broad keeps getting selected, when there would be many other county bowlers that deserve a chance.

I find it very odd Khan didn't take the field especially if as implied he bowled poorly in the first innings, just seems very odd to rest him especially after he didn't even play in the West Indies series.

I'm pretty sure he's playing injured so I can see why they would want to save him, hes their only hope of winning really. It was sad seeing him in that SA series where in some spells he was barely touching 120ks, although I'm sure even without the pace he'll still be a handle with the movement he gets.

Note England haven't lost a series in over two years either and are World Twenty20 Champions as well.

Who last defeated England?
Who won the 50 over worldcup?

People writing off India based on the warmup or first test match results know nothing about the team.

I know what you mean. India just scrape a win against the West Indies and they think they're the best in the world.

The best 11 was not in the field and almost 4 days were lost in the rain.

Wow, I had forgotten how annoying Indian fans were. Thanks for reminding me why I don't visit this section anymore!

I think the better question is, who gives a fried chicken!? Do India deserve to be number 1? Yes, that's why they are there. Is India going to win in England just because they are number 1 or because of how they have done over the past 2 years? No. The past is irrelevant now. You are only as good as your last match. India wasn't very good in their last match (tour match) so they will come into the series under a lot of pressure of having to prove that they can bat on these pitches and that their bowlers can be penetrative.

Believe it or not, you were not sent by God to defend the Indian team to the ends of the Earth, let alone with implausible and nonsensical arguments. So give yourselves- and us- a break so that we don't have to read this garbage.

I was doing some research for an article and looked up Sachin Tendulkar's record at Lord's. I was surprised to find in 4 Tests there his average is just 21.28 with a top score of 37! I think it would be quite fitting if he was to make his hundredth hundred at the home of cricket so I hope he sets the record straight.

India as a whole don't particularly like Lord's either. 15 Tests, 1 win and 10 defeats.

At the end of the day, a Test Match Series is there to prove, who is the better team. At the end of the series, barring a draw, one side will be declared the better side. As long as we all agree on that, then I think we can all get along. :p

Onions is not in the team because he's not been in the squad of late and the selectors don't think anyone needs replacing - simple. Bresnan is in the team because he was in the team because he was injured - and did well. Broad is in the team because he's the incumbent and because he took a 5fer last weekend. I don't really rate Broad either, but you can't drop a guy who played in your last Test (and has been a fixture for a couple of years), and has done what was asked - go back to Notts and get some wickets.

Maybe Broad will do like Mike Hussey did before the Ashes, made a century for his state in basically his last chance to avoid being dropped and then had a great summer.

We won the world cup there and the famous ganguly strip was there. How can we not like it :cheers

Can't wait for the tests to begin...

Star Cricket HD Is just awesome. Hope for a blast of a series

I think it means to get some wickets over a period of time, not take some one match and all is hunky dory. One swallow doesn't make a summer, one 5wi doesn't mean Broad is "in form"

Maybe. He's certainly (long over) due a great series

I was just wondering that Indian team can try this. How about Yuvi opens wth Gambhir. Yes Yuvi did not do well in practice match but he LOVES England and also can come in handy with ball. Just a thought that came through my mind. :P
