England In India - October 2011/12

Onions is not in the team because he's not been in the squad of late and the selectors don't think anyone needs replacing - simple. Bresnan is in the team because he was in the team because he was injured - and did well. Broad is in the team because he's the incumbent and because he took a 5fer last weekend. I don't really rate Broad either, but you can't drop a guy who played in your last Test (and has been a fixture for a couple of years), and has done what was asked - go back to Notts and get some wickets.

Maybe Broad will do like Mike Hussey did before the Ashes, made a century for his state in basically his last chance to avoid being dropped and then had a great summer.

Yeah those are some good points, I really do think though that this is the last chance for Broad. If he doesn't do well in this series I wouldn't take him on the winter tours. I also am a big fan of Graham Onions, so I might be a bit biased :p

I was just wondering that Indian team can try this. How about Yuvi opens wth Gambhir. Yes Yuvi did not do well in practice match but he LOVES England and also can come in handy with ball. Just a thought that came through my mind. :P

ROTFL!!!!:lol:facepalm Yuvraj opening with Gambhir in a test match at Lord's against England? WHAT A THOUGHT!!!

Mukund deserves his chance more so after a good show in West Indies. Its time we completely dump this thinking of playing makeshift openers just to fit in our batting superstars into the test lineup.

Game starts at 6AM for me and its live on Willow. Not too bad. Can't just miss a single day of the Lord's test. Hope we reverse our record of starting badly and at least draw at Lord's. I am pretty confident about our prospects of winning the series if we escape with a draw at Lord's.

why do you even try anymore? let them have the forum. it's over mate, let it go

Yeah it better be over because we all know how right I am. If you people want to continue it this way then its fine with me. We don't make fun of other teams and we don't let others disrespect our team. Fair enough. You guys got nothing to back you guys up but we got the tag of the "number 1" before our team's name. If you wanna continue this trash talking then I am up for this but then this will only mean that you aren't ready to accept the truth and just want to criticize the Indian team no matter what they do.

I still remember the comment made by Strauss when he said "We can beat India and day of the week." i would be laughing really hard if England loses even one match because then it will go against his statement therefore changing it to "We can beat India any day of the week except TODAY." one thing i see in this practice match is that some of these players in Somerset side seem more talented than some of those bloakers playing in England XI which include Pieterson and the master of six 6s, Stuart Broad. Also, you England supporters have the right to be over excited because this is the only time for you to be as you are playing at home and might be able to win the series 1-0 as you have the home advantage but as soon as you go play away series, you lose them 5-0 as happened in India.

And this gem:

And constant references to a 'Clouderson', which is a very, very lame attempt at a demeaning nickname if I must say so.

Why? Is it an insult to your personality if they insult the Indian cricket team and players? Did the squad personally come to you and ask you to argue on their behalf? Are they belittling India by insulting the Cricket team? Is that all you think you and India have to offer to this world, the cricket team? Is it a 'Insult that and you insult everything we stand for' sort of thing? Do you really have nothing better to do with your life than be an annoying troll? Do you base your self-esteem and self-worth on 15 players playing a game of cricket, none of whom you even know personally?

Personally I think you and the others just need to shut up and grow up. Or get banned from the forum. Either way would work.

Looking at this, I am sure that you obviously have no idea why I am writing what I am writing so let me tell you. If you want it more clear then please don't hesitate to ask me it again and I will try to use more simple words next time if it can get any simpler. Those comments on England came up AFTER reading other posts about India. I don't want to say same thing over and over again so this is the last time. Go back to the incident of India being number 1. Nuff said about that.

Haha this is really funny. :lol you are telling me that I am being ennoying and keep blabbering about how I am being insulted? Isn't it you guys who are flicking crying like cry babies about what I am posting here? Isn't it some of you guys who started all this based on what I wrote in my first post about how England sayd they can beat India every day of the week? You are either just so innocent who doesn't know what is going on here or you have nothing to say but just want to keep this arguement going on so you are making rediculuous comments about how I am crying about myself being insulted here through Indian team. After every post I post here, some baby has to write a post crying about what I wrote on the thread and then come here and say that I am crying about this issue. Nothing can be more idiotic than this :lol I have been trying to end this arguement from my last 2 posts but if some of you want to keep this going then fine. Keep it this way but then stop crying about it.

Yeah making Yuvraj open with Gambhir is not a good idea as Yuvi isn't the batsman that can play pace with confidence as the only thing that the bowlers need to do is to bowl the ball outside off stump and have 2 slips in place and Yuvi will surely edge atleast 1 ball in next 5 overs. One thing I seem to just remember right now is that why don't the selecters recall Wasim Jaffer? He hasn't retired from Internation Cricket but he was dropped as Gambhir took his place. He can open with Gambhir in the absence of Sehwag as he was also a good opener for India. And on the other hand, we also got a choice of Abhinav Mukhund who seems to be really impressive as an opener. Give him more chances as we have given to Yuvi and I am sure he will turn out to be a good batsman for India in the future.

Moving ball and Yuvraj just don't get along very well tbh :p And Mukund hasnt done anything wrong since making his debut. He deserves a few more matches.

Great post Zorax, some things had to be said. But on the matter of this series...ONE DAY TO GO GUYS! I hope it lives up to the hype and the weather doesn't step into the fray and reduce proceedings to a stand still. I believe England will win but there will be a tonne of draw, possibly a score line of 1-0. If Tremlett can expose the Indian batsmen's weakness against the shorter bowl (you all know it's there, and don't try and use the SA series as a point maker, because the saffers did not use the tactic often enough). Also, every subcontinental batsman has struggled, at some point, against the moving ball, and do so more than any other players from any other part of the world.
If England exploit these two weaknesses, they can have one over the Indians, if not then the Indian batting line up will run riot. Their bowling I would not be too concerned with, apart from may be Zaheer Khan on a seaming wicket.
Let the fun begin.

Lets hope they prepare bowler friendly pitches. Low scoring test matches are always more fun.

The ICC is chasing it's tail, and has no clue how to handle the BCCI.
Someone once said we might as well call them the Indian Cricket Council.

No...... it's not just this argument. I am talking about how Indians have ruined this forum over the last year thanks to the hordes and hordes of them flooding in.

it's a numbers game, pure and simple.

This is hilarious (although completely unnecessary) :D

Seriously, the ICC and the BCCI need to stop mucking about and start implementing full DRS.

Even if someone thinks Namibia are the best side in the world, does that give you the right to tell them they are an idiot (or worse)?

I think I'd be on safe ground with that example to call them an idiot.

I have been trying to end this arguement from my last 2 posts but if some of you want to keep this going then fine

No you haven't. You've been using the classic "ok lets end this" whilst flaming to get another response to keep it going so eventually you can sit back and blame everyone but yourself as you've said "ok lets end this" at some point.

Its the patented RDF defense strategy.

@Sobi and to those who reply to him: Your arguments are completely sidetracking the excitement over the actual series. Just let it go!:)
