Very true, however, Inzy also had to keep in mind, that if England lose, or the match is drawn, Pakistan cannot lose this test series. Therefore, I think he was going the safe route in my opinion, and some Pakistanis are now saying he should have batted longer, on various forums. Personally, I think the declaration was very well judged by Inzamam, although plenty had to depend on the timing of his 100. Still, well done!aussie1st said:

I think he Inzy should not have declared. England needs a victory here not Pak. Pak should be happy with draw. A big gamble by inzy.

Exactly Inzy did the right thing. Its not like he tried to bat forever and put the game way beyond reach. He is at least attempting to win the game which is a very good sign. The total set isn't an easy one either and bar some miracle it will get Pakistan a draw at worst.
What difference would it have made? Who is not to say Kaneria or Inzy would get out next ball. Then its lunch and Akhtar wouldn't have got Trescothick.ashu2411 said:

Good declaration, the scales are balanced in Pakistan's favour and the bowlers will be confident they can attack for most of the remainder of the match.
Always remember, even though it may look like an easily achievable thing in one-dayers, the methods that a fielding captain can use cause the game to vary greatly. He can use his best bowlers as he sees fit and is rarely forced to use a part timer. He can manipulate his field to restrict runs from the outset. In this case, the ball is sneaking through the left handers' defenses quiet dangerously. Unlikely on a prisitine ODI pitch.
