England in Sri Lanka March-April 2011/12

It's true that human error is the main problem with DRS.

----------

Looks like even fewer excuses for England's batsmen when it's their turn to bat. Clearly a good deck.

Christ sake. Men back to Matthews straight away. You know he likes to take them on. You know he hasn't played in a month. So yeah, give him an easy feckin' single straight down the ground... :rolleyes

Hopefully the English batsmen spent their time watching how Mike Hussey played in Sri Lanka. Probably wasn't enough time between tests to watch every ball, but they might've learned a thing or two.

Oh also Strauss... try catching them.

Yes, he's at 1st slip to catch those.

(he's not actually a particularly good slip fielder to be honest either, takes some blinders but puts down some dollies)

What does he bring anymore? He can't bat, he almost dropped the easiest slip catch ever this morning and didn't take that one. He doesn't seem to do anything but wait for wickets in the field either....

He must be one hell of a motivational speaker :rolleyes

this is definitely a result pitch, imo.

bounce is varying and there's some turn, swann's never that good in the 1st and has been bowling to right handers and with patel as the second spinner well, you'd be as well trying to assess the bounce at the wacca with shahadat hossain.

Swann's bowled ok. Dropped a bit short from time to time, but not enough in the way of variation. Would have liked to see him going around the wicket a bit earlier to Jayawardene.

They seem to just let a batsman get set and then just wait for them to get bored.

Arrrgh. Why against Mathews is the man not there for the catch at 45?!?

If he plays the shot really well a few times, fine, have 4 runs then stick someone back, but if he plays it once and promptly executes it poorly you have to have a man there for the catch. Had enough of Strauss now, let someone else have a go for the rest of the game :p

New ball due in 8 overs. I reckon we need these two out tonight.

Well batted again Mahela. A captain's knock.

mahela's scored 14 of his 31 centuries as captain, despite playing 30 matches as captain to a 100 not.

and averages 70.

I know bayliss came out and said it was an awful draining position but that's not reflected on the crease, maybe there's so much bureaucracy involved they like staying out in the middle as a break.

Funnily enough he averages about 70 in Sri Lanka. The guys technique is just perfectly suited for pitches with no real pace to them.

I could be wrong but has there been more than about 5 overs this series where a Jayawardene hasn't been at the crease?
