England in Sri Lanka March-April 2011/12

Surely this has got be Cook's most aggressive test innings ever? Looked superb throughout.

Pietersen isn't wasting any time in finishing this game off. Good to see England haven't completely forgotten how to play, congrats on breaking that 4 match losing streak.

Not much to say about Sri Lanka. Glimpses of brilliance now and then is what you expect of minnows, not a team with world class players.

We see glimpses of application by England batsmen, in this match, but they haven't suddenly learned how to play spin. They're not throwing their wickets away, well at least not before some have made scores.

81/2, eight wickets better than the match I mentioned earlier.

FiNALLY success in test away from home for England. They batted really well in the first innings to take the lead.In the end it was a good effort by Eng.Hopefully they'll continue this batting approach

Number one test team la la la la la...

Oh and I have to say this again - Strauss got out first on both occasions in this test match. See how we play then? ;)

Was considering posing the question what if KP stops Cook getting his fifty, and too late!

Shame England couldn't have applied themselves with the bat from the off instead of silly sweeps and silly shots, 1-1 papers over the cracks for now but only on the next visit to this part of the world can we gauge if any lessons have been learned. Maybe we can't play spin with the authority of the very best, but doesn't mean we have to play like prize prats

Enjoyed this series. Just a bloody shame we are not off to Candy or wherever for a decider.

1-1 Fair result.

Well it backs up what I said about Cook playing well and being unlucky in the first test with his dismissals.
Still feel KP's approach is a bit too hit and miss for normal test cricket.
Anyway #stillnumber1.

It's actually been worrying me the way everyone keeps saying how our batters are going to fill their boots again in English conditions this summer. Steyn, Morkel and Philander are going to be a very tough pace attack to face and look what happened against Pakistan in home conditions two years ago.
