Imagine THOSE team meetings:

"Right, boys, big game tomorrow. You know what you have to do. Bowl wide full tosses at about 60mph and make a sexy 30 odd before chucking it down someone's throat. If we do that from the off, we can be in the dressing room in minutes."

I give Bell a hard time but at least he consistently made it to the 30s.

If everyone in the ODi XI made a pretty 30, we'd make 330+ every time. Far better than the current tripe. Get Belly in as captain.

The top 5 might do it, but the rest wouldn't be able to. No one would be able to choke like Bell anyway.

If Bell was captain, I'd reckon we'd consistently score about 200 chasing 400.

Now this was some serious thrashing. England struggled with the bat and I expected West Indies to do that either. But it didn't happen. Basically you could say that England were outclassed with bat and bowl.

I don't know to much about English cricket but what the heck is going on with this team. I think one of the main reasons England are so bad as they don't give players long enough to succed, unless there name is Ian Bell. I remember when NZ was over the in July and Ian Botham was going on about Brendon McCullum and Englands keeping problems. He basically said that McCullum was poor for his first two-three international seasons and slowly come right. He also said if he was English he would of been drooped after 10-20 games and never seen again. Why don't England give a Keeper a decent run, give Steven Davis 30-40 games opening with the same guy, and stop chopping and changing. This would be the core of my team:

1.Steven Davis(WK)
2.?
3.Owais Shah
4.Kevin Pietersen
5.Ravi Bopara
6.Andrew Flintoff
7.Dimitri Mascarenhas
8.Graham Napier
9.Greame Swann
10.Stuart Broad
11.James Anderson/?

How Napier hasn't played for England surprises me alot, from what I've seen of him he looks pretty good. I'm also not sure who to open with, I wouldn't select Bell for England for atleast a season. Make him go back to county cricket and tell him to score runs.

Bowling attack

1.Stuart Broad
2.James Anderson
3.Andrew Flintoff
4.Greame Napier
5.Greame Swann

And you would also have the likes of Mascarenhas and Bopara chipping in with the ball.

Anyway, that is my suggestion for England. Try and keep the same team, and stop bringing back has-beens like Harmison. And please for Steven Davis's sake give him time.

Normally BBC doesn't come with harsh words like this:

'A win at the same ground in Barbados on Sunday and another in the finale in St Lucia would still give England their first one-day series success in the Caribbean. But it would take only a fool or an eternal optimist to bet on such an outcome.'

Third one-day international, Barbados: West Indies 117-2 (14.4 overs) beat England 117 (41.3 overs) by eight wickets

Saw the highlights. WI looked so dominant. Almost like England digging a hole for themselves...

Any internal problem between English players? I never found a team game.. Rather I can only sense the individual players walking and going to pavilion without any interest. Body language was horrible.. No team effort. not even 0.1% of team work was there.

You guys call KP the great player who is just not bothered to play some responsible innings and get out in cheap shot? What are those horrible pull shots supposed to be? Strauss, Bopara, KP, Flintoff? No lessons learnt even after seeing their previous wicket? Horrible body language and immature/irresponsible cricket. I have a feeling that they should either have ego clash or some internal problems. This reminds me of India during Chappel's last period where they had internal problems and played without any team work.

If this is going to be the case, England cannot even dream of winning the ashes. Hope their talents don't go wasted..and hope they recover from this position soon.

Nice point, Howsie. I think the team looks strong, and your opener would be Strauss/Trott. Strauss is captain, but I don't think he's all that as an ODI player, even with the fantastic form he has been in, including the hundred the other day.

Cricinfo - Players and Officials - Jonathan Trott

Joe harps on about him, but he is one of the most consistent and good OD performers in county cricket.
