England National football team thread

He had Lansbury and also could've moved Cleverley into the middle, two players capable of playing a competent passing game at club and country level.

Why he persisted with Henderson is beyond me.

BTW, Germany didn't make the tournament? France? Italy? Where are these teams?

Good point.

Yep - what the heck has happened to him? Maybe he should've stayed with West Ham - hindsight is a wonderful thing though.
Well, Mourinho must shoulder some blame for changing Cole as a player. During seven years at Chelsea, he went from midfield maverick to steady left-winger – a description which clearly doesn’t shout progress.

But Cole must also take some blame. Maybe he was never as good as we all thought. Maybe the excitement that caused the Upton Park PA announcer to talk so highly about him all those years ago was just hype.

Nice one Jose. :facepalm I don't agree with the second part of the quote - in his early days, Cole was superb.

An EXTREMELY FLUKY goal by the Canadian goalkeeper here in the U17 World Cup.

I want to know what happened to Italy, Germany, France, Holland and teams like that in this year's U21.

I think a few of them lost in the play-offs. Romania got the most points in the qualifying groups (25) and yet lost to England in the play-off.

It's a weird system. They should just replicate the qualifying system they have at senior level.

They didn't even qualify? Ha ha ha!! At least England were there - that's more you can say for the Germans et al. :lol
That's more to with the fact a lot of their best U21s now make up their senior squad. If they wanted to they could've fielded a side like this:

Baumann

Boateng H?wedes Hummels Schmelzer

Bender Kroos

M?ller ?zil G?tze

Sch?rrle

Subs: Sippel, Trapp, Marin, Sam, Badstuber, Gro?kreutz, L Bender, Reus, Schieber, Holtby, G?ndogan, Rudy etc.

That side would probably destroy most other teams at this level but they're not all available since a lot of them are now regulars in the senior squad.

Ha damn thats a strong little German side for sure..

I will never understand Fifa's ranking system. England better than Brazil? Ummm... no.

That's a different story then. See, that's what Germany do - they have a bad patch and go back to basics. Now, their U21 team is doing what it's meant to do: feed the senior team. And it's sure feeding them some great players. Joke's on us in that case. :facepalm :o
