In other news, George Bailey and Mitchell Johnson made the cut for the Ashes. Doolan left out. TBH, I don't expect much from Bailey because the conditions in India (roads really) and that are expected to be down under are poles apart. Johnson will certainly try and extend his purple patch in favorable conditions back home. He might be the man for Australia this time round.

I rate Bailey even if he hasn't played test cricket before. Johnson's performance will depend on his head.

Look forward to seeing how Bailey goes, his ODI form is easily the best of any of the young batsmen we have put in their lately. One season too soon for Doolan really, has only had one good season and started this one well.

Yes, Finn, Rankin and Tremlett have been as woeful as each other.

Sneaking suspicion they will go for Tremlett to give some control. Rankin and Finn do tend to leak runs.

The form of these 3 makes Onions omission look even more baffling.

England must look on the positive side that Stuart Broad bowled reasonably well in this tour match. That is despite the lack of a third seamer at the moment.

I'm sensing with this along with the bad blood towards Broad, ENG might face the most hostile AUS crowd Ashes atmosphere in decades. They won't be too many clapping of ENG batsmen scoring centuries...

Having taken 5 wickets today I'd say he is favourite to get that final bowlers spot.

Last Ashes series in Aus he took wickets but was dropped for his E/R and Tremlett was brought in.
I agree that in a 4 man attack you need wicket takers but it weakens the other three bowlers if Finn is taking off the shackles and letting them score easy runs.
