England tour of South Africa 09/10

Seems like they've got it in the bag, though I guess if SA somehow get these two and Morgan out spontaneously, then some sort of freefall effect could occur.

That freefall has a name, it's called the englishmiddleorderbattingcollapse. Also, the longest word in the English dictionary!

This is shocking. Since when are batsman allowed to refer waist high full tosses? It wasn't even a No Ball for Gods sake. Pathetic....

Congrats to England. Am rooting for them now that Pietersen is back. Plus I really like the look of Morgan.

Well done to england.

As always in day games at centurion toss played a crucial role. Wicket seemed easier in the afternoon. SA batsmen let themselves down as well. That was never a good enough score.

Need to lift our game.

I watched the conclusion of this. Anyone know the law for if the umpire prevents a winning boundary? I'm assuming it just goes down as unfortunate. Could have cause probs if that had been the final over...

I'm sure it's just bad luck as well. the umps and stumps are just part of the playing field, just like you wouldn't be allowed to ask an umpire to move if it restricted how you wanted to approach the wicket.

That happens a fair bit at the level of cricket I play. The umpire will stand further back to allow the bowler to run across him.
When umpiring I've been asked on a few occasions to change position slightly (although I did say no to the suggestion I do it from long on).

You can, and at any level, within reason.

So the batsman played the shot and the ball hit the umpire?

Bad luck, can't really call it dead ball.

Well Done to England , Great day for England. I love watch to Morgan bat, He is awesome cricketer i seen.

South Africa are far too good a side to have a 6 and 7 of Ryan MacLaren and Albie Morkel. I appreciate that if Kallis were fit, he'd bat in the top 3 with Graeme Smith and Hashim Amla, but MacLaren and Morkel are far too bits and pieces for South Africa. The shot MacLaren played today was awful. His feet went nowhere. I'm not convinced he's an international player. I think he was a fantastic county player, wonderful for Kent. But especially for South Africa, I just don't see him staying in that side.

How Langevelt gets in the South African side also is crazy. Granted he took the wickets today, but he's not good enough.

Jonathan Trott's been a bit of a star turn. When he was first in the side (last year, year before?) I wasn't entirely convince, despite him not being given enough of a chance anyway, but he's clearly gone away and worked hard. Deserves it.
