England tour to South Africa December 2015/February 2016

Is this the most likely ground that SA wouldn't play a spinner. If so are the most likely seamers Morkel, Abbott, Morris and Rabada?

Why was Philander not in the squad? Still not fit? Or is he not the bowler he used to be?

Just seen Steyn's injury record in the last 24 months. It's quite poor. Is it time for him to become a one day specialist? Getting through 5 days seems to be tough for him now. He could of course do what Anderson has pretty much done and forget about playing any one day cricket or IPL, and literally just play test matches. He rarely ever plays for Lancashire either so the 13 tests a year are pretty much the only cricket matches he plays in the year.

Philander was ruled out of the test series after a fitness test after the second test. a Very costly game of football.

Will have to see what Steyn does. Would like to see him atleast get the SA record of wickets he deserves. He is already an ATG. Will have to see, the injury record in the last year isn't great, hopefully just a blip.

In all honesty Philander isnt the same bowler he used to be... grown slightly overate and he hasnt been playing for ever so its better he isnt playing...

Looks like Philander will be picked ahead of Abbott. Have I seen that one before? Who's the captain?

Philander is out injured for the series. So not sure where you are getting that.

What I am hearing is its a toss up between piedt or abbot/viljoen. Personally I want to see Viljoen play, think his extra pace will trouble england on wanderers.

Does this mean Piedt won't play, or are either Viljeon/Abbott going to replace Morris?

Piedt and Rossouw were released to their franchise teams. So SA is definitely playing 4 seamers. I think the 4 seamers will be morkel, radaba, morris and viljoen, atleast that's what ab was hinting at.

Barring in mind the 4 non white player rule I suspect we will play this team:

1.Elgar
2.QDK
3.Amla
4.AB
5.Faf
6.Bavuma
7.JP
8.Morris
9.KG
10.Viljoen
11.Morkel

I'm not surprised de Kock is gong to open. Said it 2 weeks ago. He won't do any worse than van Zyl. Saying that, I wouldn't do any worse than him.

I'm glad that SA are playing 4 seamers. Always a very dangerous move in my eyes. Just takes one bowler to break down and it's basically match over. In my time watching England, I can only remember going in without a spinner twice, but it was when Craig White was batting at 7 and so he was part of a 5 man seam attack. I don't think I've seen a match where a team only plays 4 seamers and no spinner.

SA played 5 seamers no spinner last time at wanderers vs england. Steyn, morkel, mcclaren, parnel and kallis.

Seen SA going into tests at wanders and kingsmead with no spinner on a number of times. Will see if it works, record at wanderers and this seasons first class games suggest its the right move.

But as you say, with Kallis in the team, you could play 5 seamers. If one gets injured it's not the end of the world. If Rabada breaks down for instance, you'll get Morkel, Morris and Viljeon bowling far too many overs, and England will end up hammering them. I'd play a spinner on any surface.

Bad luck for qdk, slipped last night at home and hurt his knee.

Vilas flying in to replace him. AB will keep till vilas gets there.

Hope we put them in and get SA 5 down with Vilas still driving to the ground. It sounds like my club side.
