England vs Sri Lanka - First Test :: Sponsored by Marcus Trescothick's Cricket Coach

Im wondering how Malinga will go with his whippy straight bowling on the sloping Lords wicket, could be interesting.

The bowling selection is a very intriguing one, i have opted finally not to take any spinners, not even Murali. I cant see this match going 5 days, with the time of year and number of fast bowlers set to play, Sri Lankas batting lineup looks troubled.

im sitting here asking myself how i can leave Murali out! Ill have another think just before the game starts :D

I've got a wierd team...no trescothick and strauss! I don't know why i selected such a line-up.

I'm also tempted to bet heavily on an English win..but at Lords, you'll never know.

Murali can spin it on a concrete so I did select him:D

he'll be the key man

You're right..sometimes it can happen the other way.
I hope Flintoff and Pieterson shine in this match.

I have 4 English batsmen with Murali and Vass. Someone has to get the wickets for SL. May need to get another English bowler though.

England have Monty but against SL he should be no match. Still feel I need another English bowler but my options are Plunkett/Lewis/Mahmood. Not great options there, Lewis would be good but cricinfo predicts he won't play.

Plunkett doesn't look like one that will destory teams. Hopefully it's swinging so Hoggard cleans up.

Of course, you can make your FC comps however you want, but there's no need to dictate how others should make theirs.

Don't understand how you're coming with the word dictate with this. Like I said, I thought you didn't know about the stats of these players and I inserted them, since there was one day left and wanted to people to give time to edit their team.

And I never had the idea of having an 'own' Fantasy Game, since I was assuming since the beginning the Fantasy Cricket Updaters should work as a team. Especially since I had been updating a lot of scores the other Fantasy games created. And putting a selection of a team is one thing, but sticking firmly to your selection criteria of the players in the Fantasy game and denying the opinions of others is not really nice way of working together. And Aussie1st already changed some selection criteria the Fantasy Games I created, and I didn't have any problem with that. But I guess some people aren't that open minded.

Anyway have it your way.

Interesting hearing that the pitch is likely to be a batting pitch. Makes it tricky picking the right batsmen. And of course will Vass be affective in this type of pitch. Hardest thing was picking the SL batsmen.

Actually some week ago I read an article that Vaas wasn't that affective in England. I did some checking. Vaas grabbed four wickets in three Test matches in England against England with an average of 108.50.

I also wanted to pick Lewis, but like you said cricinfo predicted he won't play. But cricinfo has been wrong some times.

I don't read into stats like that :) England is a place for swinging Vass is a swinger. That's all I need.
If you are picking Hoggard you should pick Vass as both are swing bowlers.

I actually picked Hoggard in my team, but I am gambling on the other allrounders in my team, after reading some recent performances. That's why I put Vaas not in my team.

But if Lewis is set to play I will change him for some other bowler.

It's official England team is - Marcus Trescothick, 2 Andrew Strauss, 3 Alastair Cook, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Paul Collingwood, 6 Andrew Flintoff, 7 Geraint Jones (wk), 8 Liam Plunkett, 9 Sajid Mahmood, 10 Matthew Hoggard, 11 Monty Panesar
