England's tour of India - 2021

Hotstar should add an option for turning of the commentary as well - their roster is horrible.

Atleast Rishabh Pant behind the stumps provides more insight and funny to listen as well than these guys on Air.

Mark Butcher is hoping England bat an hour tomorrow. That's how fearful he is and a reflection of his mindset from his playing days. If you lose after getting 500 on any track, you need to look at your bowling attack and try to improve along with telling the opposition well played. Not going to win many test matches hoping to bat as long as possible when you're half a thousand ahead. Just piss poor!

if we'd played Mo at 8 and he was getting after them, you could just about understand it, but we're doing nothing here but taking time out of the game.

England have basically told India on Day 2 of the first test that they are petrified of them chasing anything and that they know if they can make 500+, India are likely to overhaul it. Exactly, how much confidence does Root have in his bowlers and what are the bowlers meant to feel?

An English team filled with so much talent and depth that plays such dynamic cricket leave me really disappointed. They're the world champions ffs!

Ashwin is extremely likely to break down in this series if he has to bowl this many overs again. Sundar and Nadeem have to pick up the slack more.

Can't help but feel we've put an over reliance on the pitch breaking down massively in the next 3 days. I can see the logic "bat long, bat once", but it feels like wishful thinking. Would have preferred us to have had 10-15 overs at India today.

Yes the commentary panel sucks. But, credit where it's due. They didn't bring in Manjrekar.

Good stuff from England. Missed most of it after staying up until lunch and then falling asleep.

Can only imagine England are trying to make so they don't have to bat again; with the thinking being that the last two test matches in India we batted first, scored 400 and 477 and still lost by an innings.

If Jaddu was there at Chennai, he would make huge impact. Whole India missed you Sir, please take care of health. Without Jadeja the dream of winning Test Championship is looking blur.

Pretty defensive stuff from England to have still batted after crossing the 500 mark. Yes, losing by an innings after posting 400 and 477 in 2016-17 hurts, but these are different times now. They put themselves in a great position to attack and put pressure on the Indian batting lineup with the sheer amount of runs on the board.

Wouldn't blame them too much for thinking the pitch will start to break and turn from Day 4, but proclaiming that "we are aiming for 600-700" has already put them on the backfoot because they believe that their bowling attack isn't good enough and the Indian batting lineup is invincible, which isn't once you assert some pressure and play smart cricket. I think England have been one of better touring sides of India of recent times, and that they can truly believe to win once they've got some confidence in their spinners.

Need a daddy hundred from one of the top 4, otherwise things will not be looking good for India. Let's hope the pitch remains the same on Day3 and most of Day4. With the kind of leather hunt our bowlers endured at the hands of the English batsmen, they will need two full days to recover their stamina and morale.

England didn't really run away with the scoring rate thereby losing time, but having a deficit of 575+ will certainly play on the minds of the batsmen when they come out to bat. Gotta take it session by session.

What a toss to win - although blaming this all on the toss would be unfair to the opposition's batsmen. They did play our bowling extremely well to their credit.

So England score 550 runs in two days in India, their captain scores a Big Daddy and the comments are that England are too defensive, scared off the pitch bla bla bla bla bla....get a grip peeps and enjoy the fact that England are dominating. Rant over and out.

If any of the top 7 had stayed in (or better 2 of) then I’d support batting on, put miles in Ashwin & Bumrahs legs, and annoy the batsmen.

But with Leach and Bess, we’re gonna be going nowhere. Should have had 45 mins to an hour at them tonight.

Really poor and negative in the end.

I honestly think batting on once Buttler was out was a negative defensive move, and it does take the gloss off the brilliance that went before.

it's absurd that we are still batting.
See, I disagree. I don't think that another 30 minutes in the morning would really cost England anything, but if the Indian batsmen go to bed tonight thinking about how they're going to score runs, and the bowlers go to bed thinking about how they're going to be able to have a rest, then getting to the ground and finding out you're still fielding, then doing all the fielding warmups and going out in the heat to field for a little bit - that'd be truly demoralising and could earn England a wicket or two just through people being unprepared mentally

having not declared an hour before stumps, we do need to bat 45min-1hr tomorrow precisely to mess with the opener's heads, but there was no justification for not declaring as soon as Buttler was out.
