One thing is for sure, I do not think we will see more of Pandey and Samson. Both got the opportunities and both failed. Its ok, not every great domestic player tends to be good internationally.
I believe maybe you aren't following Sri Lanka Cricket off late. This Sri Lankan team is only as strong as a Mumbai or Karnataka in the Ranji trophy. And they can possibly compete better with them. This series should come as a massive eye opener for Sri Lankan cricket, as to where they are and what they need to do! It would be incredibly stupid if Sri Lanka dont use this opportunity to assess their stocks and work on improvement. India's "B Team from a B squad" have stretched Sri Lanka to 19.4 overs.

Also the fact that they are missing some of their key players in this series for breaching Covid protocols in England. If I were to be a Sri Lankan supporter I would still be happy with this victory. But no doubt they need to improve for sure.
Hopefully for Sri Lanka every team they play only has five batsman.A big boost for SL when they win the series. They'll take a lot of confidence from beating a strong and well respected cricketing unit that is known in general as "Team India", even though on surface level they've had to play the most depleted team that could be assembled without calling off the series altogether. Either way, cricket has been missing a confident and competitive SL unit , hope they can build a decent team and bring back a couple experienced guys like K Perera, Mathews, Chandimal to support their young team.
