India Tour Of Sri Lanka 2021

Probably an unpopular opinion but don't you think him staying at the U19 level and working at the ground levels trying to promote the youngsters is equally important?

Dravid has overseen 2 U-19 CWC campaigns. Both ended in India reaching the finals. We sadly lost the one vs West Indies (led by Kishan). However, the Sahw led team triumphed.

Dravid has had a team of experts continually assisting him here- more notably Paras Mhambrey who has been with him through these campaigns. (also currently in SRL) Mhambreyacted as the Head Coach during the last U-19 CWC where surprisingly Ban beat Ind in the final.

My point is- Dravid is good. But there are other who have contributed and they need to be given their due. Else, you will have a problem of succession once Dravid exits the main role.

Safe to expect complacency from India given that it's a dead rubber now and especially after having a "get-out-of-the-jail-free-card" moment in the 2nd ODI?

Ideal time to bring in Samson for Kishan and see what he does batting at his preferred spot i.e. no.3

Also Saini should get a match.

Shikhar Dhawan has won the toss and he celebrates it with a thigh-five before saying he wants to bat first as the wicket is dry. "We have got six changes and five debutants," he says. Navdeep Saini comes in apart from the five aforementioned debutants.

Nitish Rana, Rahul Chahar, Chetan Sakariya, K Gowtham and Sanju Samson

Dharmasena doesn't have a great day. 3 wrong decisions overturned on reviews

India in a real spot of bother. 190/6 with 17 overs still left.

Looks like the rain interruption caused a loss of momentum for India. Sri Lankan spinners are on fire. 194/7 now!!!!

142/3 and bowled out on just around 200. What a serious turn around it would be. Akila Dhananjaya the man doing the damage just like he did at Pallekele back in 2017.

20 more runs and India-C would have beaten Sri Lanka. Honestly, a target of 225, I expected Lanka to chase it with at least 6 wickets in hand.

They seem to have major problems and no one is actually doing a thing about it. Mickey Arthur is quite happy with his paycheck. If Lanka lose more on the way, its his gain only,as he would be let go with a big fat paycheck.

That said, quite happy that we tried a few new faces in the team yesterday. Overall, Team India performed brilliantly given the constraints. I would like to point ou 2 individuals who really disappointed me. I worry about the likes of Pandey and Pandya who might not feature in the main line up if such shoddy returns continue. Pandey had a good chance to consolidate himself and failed miserably. Hardik Pandya's days are numbered. Brainless batting makes him look like Shahid Afridi. The fact that he cant/ wont bowl makes him a liability in the main team.

Yes! And more so cause the Super League points do not matter to India. Win or Lose, we are guaranteed a CWC spot by virtue of hosting the main event.

Hardik's score in last 9 matches have been(most recent first)
19(17), 0(3), DNB, 64(44), 35(16), 1(6), 92*(76), 28(31), 90(76)

So that is 8 innings, average of 47.00 and strike rate of 122.30.

It would be harsh on him if he gets dropped after having such healthy numbers tbh.

People have really short memories. He was certainly the most improved batsman in the loi tour of Australia and could claim to be the best overall indian batsman in the limited over formats as well. Cant completely discard him after 3 games

And when exactly were these games played???

You are talking of 9 games played by Pandya over a period of more than 1 year. This has been India's problem since the very beginning. Some smart ass comes and smashes 100 or so in one game and you keep on playing him for eternity. If you wanna win the CWC, you gotta play the in-form guys only. Gotta be Ruthless!

Yeah maybe! Cause I honestly do not remember Pandya playing a match winning knock recently.

Furthermore, what matters is his form against the current opposition in the current day and age. If he is out of form, he better go back to domestic/IPL(not a big fan) and prove himself. You cannot use the Indian cricket team as your personal cricket nets to get into form.
