India Tour Of Sri Lanka 2021

The Start that Shaw gave us in 1st ODI is how openers should bat in LOI cricket.

Sehwag did it years before, so did Jayasuriya , Gilchrist & others.

The openers should go on attack straight away and let the middle order capitalize the innings in the middle overs and few sloggers/finishers to wrap things up.

Not like 40 for 0 in first 10 then capitalize later.

It worked for us for If Sharma Ji scores big or when Kohli used to finish games single handedly but now the Times have changed , the players are aging and losing form as well.

Time to adapt this new template of ODI cricket.

He is such a wonderful player does Avishka and how he keeps throwing away starts like these is beyond me. :facepalm

Similar start from Shaw in this match as well. Dhawan showing better intent today.

I expect India to win somewhere around the 40 over mark if Sri Lanka don't get early wickets.

Good Captaincy from Shanaka. Brought in the leg spinner when Shaw was trying to be aggressive. Shaw has struggled against spinners facing the new ball in IPL as well.

Finally something to watch in this series. Good comeback from Sri Lanka. The streak going to be broken one day. Let's find out whether it's today or not.

Seeing Rahul Dravid motivating players, all excited, giving advise gives me tears. Something that has been missing since the last 6 years. Him coaching India will be the best thing ever to happen. Please lord, please.. listen to us for once.

Probably an unpopular opinion but don't you think him staying at the U19 level and working at the ground levels trying to promote the youngsters is equally important?

That smile.... A solid victory.

Before Dravid, we still produced fantastic cricketers at u-19 level. There is no point in producing great crickets who remain mediocre and ICC trophy less at international stage. The simple thing India needs is Kohli has to go as a captain and Shastri as a coach.. No captain or coach would stay on after losing World T20 2014, Champions Trophy 2017 2015 World Cup Semi Finals, 2016 World T20, 2019 World Cup Semi Finals and Test Championship 2021. How many more are we ready to let go?

Heck do not make Dravid the coach, leave him at what he is doing right now, but get rid of Shastri Kohli duo. What is the use of this solid bench strength?

Still laughing at Mickey Arthur's reaction. He should just chill and accept it as a part of the game. :lol

The state SLC is at present this performance wasn't short of victory. Players like Hasaranga & Chamika Karunratne should be backed by Sri Lanka. Also not to forget Asalanka's contribution.

Really felt for Minod Bhanuka when he missed that catch.

I agree to this.

Shastri or Kohli were not captain or coach in these 3 events. Dhoni was the captain

And Dhoni stepped down. Duncen Fletcher was let go! Exactly my point. Also Dhoni had 2007 T20 WC, 2011 WC and 2013 Champions Trophy under his belt. After loosing all the ICC trophies all we hear is one hour here or one hour there and we lost.

People often think that attacking Kohli's captaincy is attacking his batting NO! Nobody is attacking his batting prowess. As an Indian cricket fan since Sharjah 1999, I am attacking Kohli the captain.

I disagree with Dravid taking over ASAP. India faced this concern when Kumble took over. IMO, Kumble was a better option than Shastri and ought to have gotten a longer run at the top. The way the team behaves was one of the major reasons for Kumble stepping down. I really dont want to see that happen with Dravid- he wont take it too- he is a no-nonsense guy.

Personally, Dravid can come in once the snobbish likes of Kohli and the existing seniors make way. A future team, led, perhaps by Gill/ Shaw/ Iyer is the right one for Dravid to assume charge of.

The Shaw that start gave us in 1st ODI is how openers should bat in LOI cricket.
I have to agree. India has been playing an outdated brand of cricket in the last few years. It does not make for appetising viewing of the game. The problem is this brand is being carried into the T20s as well, where we desperately need to score faster. I hope Shaw gets a good run at the top and he ought to partner KLR in the LOI setup. Rohit, for all his worth must make way for talents coming in. No harm in him dropping to 3/4 and lending some stability to the middle order.

Well, we get into a rut and continue scoring at the same pace. India under Kohli has this weird obsession of thinking that scores of 250+ are par in ODIs. Yes, we have won, but we have won narrowly. As spoken above, a change in the mindset and batting order is essential if we are to win any ICC trophies.

Agree!

Shastri will go- As per the Lodha reforms, he is ineligible to conitnue further. Since Shastri has had 2 consecutive terms as a Team Director/ Head Coach, he can no longer be considered for the said role unless he serves a cooling period of 3 years.

It is not, but one cant help but think that Kohli might free up more without the burden of captaincy.
