Iyer is recovering from the injury

Atleast give someone enough time to rectify oneself.

I just found out that he is still recovering from the injury he suffered during England series. But I would still say that giving Dhawan the Captaincy doesn't make sense because the last time I remember he wasn't able to lead a strong SRH squad a left Captaincy mid-season. So when you know that he doesn't have a good history when it comes to Captaincy then why not groom someone else? I think Shaw have won an U19 WC for India in 2018 and have won Vijay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai just recently so why not groom him for the future? The thing with India is that we always want our best players to lead the team inspite of the fact that few of them don't do well at the job. We should be looking more towards the future now.

I don't think it is wise enough for people to think that if India is sending their B-team to Sri Lanka then they are disrespecting SLC. It was decided well in advance by the SLC in co-ordination with the BCCI that India will tour Sri Lanka in June 2020. Now the said thing wasn't possible due to the pandemic situation so we have postponed it to this year. Now, it does mean that BCCI is fulfilling their promise to SLC. So Sri Lanka should be rather thankful to us that we are honouring this tour.

Also Sri Lanka will be more than happy that a weakened India side is touring their country because it makes the best bet for them to beat India in a bilateral series that they haven't done for more than a decade now. All in all this is a win-win situation for both sides. We honoured their tour and now they can try beating us.

Gowtham's selection is a surprise for me. He did not play any match in this IPL and his performance has been below average with both bat and ball in his whole IPL career. Tewatia should have been selected in place of him.

I think Avesh Khan should be on the Sri Lanka tour and Saini should be in England. Saini could be our backup fast bowler for England series.

This is not even an A team. More like A+

Dhawan, Shaw, Pandya brothers, Bhuvi, Kulcha have been staple players in our starting lineup over the last 2 years.

Pandey, SKY, Ishan and Chahar are the only newbies, and they too are IPL stars

People talk about KLR, but the fact that KLR isn't a plan of India's test plans + he is being wasted in England means that he is no longer in the running to be a Future India Captain. (Thank heavens for that)

Yeah coz in those days, the international cricket calendar was not so crazy crowded! Today in a day and age about milking the goose all you can and with COVID creating a logistical nightmare, this was bound to happen. Did the AUS and WI teams at their peak, have to deal with crazy international calendars and COVID at the same time?

Already many former international players are talking with envy about how India is able to put up a second international team that looks as good or even better than the main one. I predict this second team to thrash the living daylights outta Sri Lanka. Honestly, Sri Lanka doesn't have the match to compete with these seasoned IPL pros that will be touring SL.

Don't see a problem in that. He has Captained Sri Lanka before in T20Is. I think he is a good player as well who have come handy in crisis at times for SL.

Given Sri Lanka's form, its no wonder they cancelled the Asia Cup earlier- there's simply no competition in Asia. I believe, if they play the Asia Cup among Afgh, Ban, SRL,Pak, Nepal, UAE & Oman, it would be a resounding success.

If you throw in India, you know they would boss the tournament only to screw up the finals...

My line up is same for tomorrow's match but the only change will be Saini in for Deepak Chahar. This is pretty much close to our full strength team. I expect India to achieve an easy victory in this series unless Sri Lanka does something extraordinary.
