Ouch .. we are looking down and out. A lead of atleast 50-75 was needed since we bat last.

It looks like Eng will end up with the lead here - bye bye WTC finals
A good bowling performance from our spinners and we are back in it. Even a 30-40 run lead for India could trouble England.

And I also don't know how impact shows umpires call.
My first impression was it was Umpire's call with the impact and I felt it was hitting the wickets dead straight before I saw that even the wickets part was Umpire's call

It could have, if we ever got those runs. It looks more likely that England will be the one going in with the lead

Now that's an exaggeration tbh. Yes there are odd ones here and there but that's not happened excessively.

no, there's been a lot of lbws given against england that on review were clipping umpires call. these are poor decisions, no benefit of doubt to batsman. Rohit's was the same.

Well now I can say it because an Indian batsman was out and it won't be sour grapes...

but "umpire's call" when it's just clipping on line or hitting is a joke.

i don't know if the law changed but what happened to the batsman getting benefit of the doubt. when it's just clipping IMO the umpire has got it wrong and not given benefit of the doubt, and it should be not-out. I think 45% + of the ball should be inline or hitting to be out.

but still i'm glad rohit is out. & england have had loads of shit decisions like that
You only need Umpire's Call for whether a ball is hitting the stumps. You can see where it's pitching and the impact line without missile tracking. If it's hitting it should be out - I don't care whether it's 50% or 1% but it shouldn't be proving how right or wrong the umpire is. It should be reaching as conclusive a decision as possible.

If they keep that. The Umpire should have to conclusively say why they are not giving something out. When that explanation is given 10 seconds begins for the fielding side to decide. That one in the second test - when Rohit didn't play a shot - the process for that was absurd.

I also can't believe there aren't instances where the umpire gives one not out and is then proved 'correct' for a different reason.

England need to get atleast a couple of more wickets at this stage to be able to get a lead here- Yeh hai aam zindagi (This is normal life)

- Yeh hai Mentos zindagi asprin mode :p (This is Mentos life asprin mode)
Even espncricinfo agrees with me. Check out the title on the homepage :p

This. A simply but effective rule. What this does is take out the "unlucky" factor out of the equation (if you take into account the umpire giving out on one occasion and not out on another on two very similar close calls)

Test is nicely poised at the moment. A lot will depend how much Pant and Sundar can get. Axar can bat too but is low on confidence (in the batting department). Can't expect much from Siraj and Ishant. England ticking all the right boxes today.

Spider Pant is still on the crease for India.

Cricinfo hires Manjrekar. There goes the credibility! :lol

I agree with you but. Test on an absolute knife edge.

Ironic that you’re arguing for more empowerment of on-field umpires, while wanting to remove the one thing in the DRS process that empowers them. Umpire's call minimises any small mistakes in the technology by trusting the judgement of the on-field umpire in marginal calls.
Now, you can say that technology should only be used when it’s 100% accurate to the last inch, but that is years away. I think we can all say that we’ve been better off with DRS in the last decade.
I'm so tired of this argument.

If you get better decision put a robot there. Give the team tokens to put into a slot where it's mouth would be so they can drop the ball through a hoop when they think it's lost shape or if they need the scissors to cut a shoelace. Give it a knife to threaten players if they get out of line.

Nah, what we need is to wheel Steve Bucknor and Venkat out there, without DRS

Or maybe Darrell Hair could be there instead, as I'm sure his biases would balance out against the biases of Venkat
