England's tour of India (Nov '16/Feb '17)

First of all, In my view, I don't think so based on some seriese wins you can be that sure about it. Secondly, I am referring to the sudden panic. Relax a bit, They are here to play cricket as well. They won't give you the match in plate.
Sudden panic?? I believe that England has a small edge over Pakistan if it came to winning a series in India. Pakistan's lower batting order is very weak while England's is not. England's lower order did not do much yesterday but they are usually very good .

I think even the Pakistani fans might admit that Afridi is sh*t anyway. "BOOM BOOM"
I know but some people in Pakistan are just mad about him.
To Sum it up this is what Ganguly said about Afridi in wt20 2012.

Very good game for India so far. And England fortunately have shown better fight than some of the recent teams who fell for us. Liked Jayant Yadav of what I've seen so far though disappointed that he did not get more overs than what he got. His batting looks good enough for him to be a lower order batsman. Hope Rahane sticks in here and gets a good score. He has been slightly low so far and needs a good innings. Kohli has been amazing and so has been Pujara (he has scored 3 consecutive hundreds in 3 tests, and not much mention of it - for long, Azharuddin's biggest feat where those 3 consecutive centuries in 3 tests).

Another 100+ runs and India should have this match in the bag. Considering the time India have, I would go for 150 more runs and set England a target of 450+ again with a Day 4-5 pitch lurking on them. And have England start in the 2nd session of Day 4 so that there is enough time.

They're just mad about him because there is no actual role model for the kids and others to follow in the shorter format. Misbah deserves more respect even though he doesn't play shorter formats anymore. That falsely called "BOOM BOOM" Afridi barely produced match winning innings.

Well India have 362 on board and I think its more then enough. Since we are 8 down we might as well play till end.

Jayant Yadav looks more solid technically. If ever we have a situation where Jadeja isnt in form and we have to play one more fast bowler our lower order looks solid.

Although Saha has played few knocks he has to play more consistently.

Shami is handy batsman in the end though, I don't get the fact Yadav being sent before him considering Shami has a Test fifty.

You confused umesh with jayant

This reminds me a bit of that game against South Africa where South Africa went on a defence marathon and blocked everything that came their way. This pitch however is not turning as much as it did in that South Africa game which is really surprising. I hope we see a bit more turn tomorrow and those cracks open up a bit more.

The one thing that bothered me today was Kohli's captaincy. He is REALLY impatient as a captain and it is definitely one of the worst (probably the worst) day of his captaincy that I have seen. He started off with a very defensive field even though our fast bowlers have bowled amazingly well throughout this series so far. You have given them a target of 405 and they are never going to chase that on this wicket but you have to attack at the start especially when you know that Cook is struggling at the start of his inning against Shami. Also he brought Ashwin a bit too early because I thought Umesh Yadav was bowling well. Same defensive field was noticeable when the spinners came on to bowl. You need to have more close in fielders for someone like Hameed who is playing decently but he is on his first tour of India. You need to put him under pressure and make him try something different.

Joe Root and Ben Stokes are the two wickets that I think we need to get quickly because they have the ability to take England to a draw.

I have a feeling this is going to be close. The start that Cook and Hameed gave England could possibly spur them to bat better tomorrow than expected, and it also says that application on this pitch can take you well forward. Which means they could get close if they survive Session 1 without much damage. 318 is not too big a target and if England apply themselves decently, we have a pretty tight game on hands.

I hope India can break the door open very early tomorrow and wrap things up. On the pitch, this is a very good wicket. It has spun much more than Rajkot, but definitely not a rank turner. These kinds of pitches are what we need in India where the home advantage exists but does not tilt to the extreme. I have to say that the curators have got it pretty right so far in these two tests.

I'd say that the first thing India need to do tomorrow is to get Root out. Root is the main man for England to force out a draw or get some runs. England still can win, if Stokes and Root produce some magic. But I feel England will not push on for a win, they are just a conservative team and don't attack in these type of situations. Now, I'd say that India have a slight edge, due to Jaddu getting Cook off the last ball of the day. That should lift up the boys' spirits.
Naturally, Jayant doesn't look too bad as the third spinner role. He is equally good as Mishra, though Jayant needs topick up some wickets to seal his spot as the third spinner. His batting is a lot better than Mishra's and he looks a lot more composed at the crease. As I said, he needs some wickets because Ashwin and Jaddu need good support.

One of Shami or Yadav has to get wickets with the old ball if India have to win tomorrow. I predict reverse swing to cause more damage than spin tomorrow.

I am mighty impressed with Hameed. What patience, what application this young lad has shown. It was unfortunate for him that he got run out in first innings and got an unplayable delivery in 2nd innings. England I can say have finally found a decent opener to invest in. I am not saying he might be the best but its not easy debuting in India with enormous crowd pressure. Pressure to be able to play spin well. His batting so far has really exceeded my expectation I had on him.

Cook is 31 and can easily play another 4 years. Which means Cook and Hameed with Root number 3 looks like solid top three batsman.
