Leaves you wondering if the reduction of overseas players had done any good at all. Plenty of teams have already signed up 2 overseas and 3 just extracts the urine really doesn't it. Under the old system you were allowed 2 overseas at any one time with a maximum of 4 players across the season, they should have made it 2 max for the season. Add in the increase in Kolpak signings and it just seems like a pointless exercise.

To be honest, if Warne had his prorities right we wouldn't even need a second. As it is, he fancies Poker more than Cricket, and the Hants board are too big pussies to sort him out.

Watson will be awesome until he breaks down and Hampshire need another overseas player.

Alright he's not that awesome :D Glad we have James Taylor from Worcester, Englands best batsmen at the U19 world cup I do believe.

Given that the ECB has now complied with the other nations and anyone participating in the ICL is to be banned from domestic cricket, Mushtaq, Rana and Bond could all be kicked out of the domestic scene. So Hampshire, Sussex and Yokshire might have to find new overseas players.

Come on Mushy you know what's right!

Worcestershire have signed Fidel Edwards as their overseas player for the 2nd half of 2008. http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/england/content/story/339857.html

Leicestershire have signed Jermaine Lawson as their Kolpak player for this season. http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/countycricket2008/content/story/340339.html

Im excited about West Indies players signing to play domestic cricket in England. They will get allot of experience and improve their game. A season in England helped Jerome Taylor last year, i hope it does the same for these 2 guys.

Lancs Sign Francois du Plessis

Lancashire County Cricket Club has confirmed the signing of 23 year old South African batsman Francois du Plessis on a 6-month contract from April 2008.

Du Plessis is currently playing for the Nashua Titans and has a growing reputation as one of South Africa?s future stars with a First Class average of 40.52.

Very Decent average aswell.

With Edwards action he should be able to bowl at New Road in any conditions!

yea I agree he should be good in English conditions, but he needs to go over there and pick up any tip and pointers he can get and I hope that they can help him with his control.

This reduction in overseas players seems pointless to me. Instead of having 2 top Internationals at each club, we now have 1 and about 3 average Kolpakers to fill in the gaps really. I'm starting to get disillusioned with Somerset signing Kolpak players and pushing local players like Matt Wood away from the team.

We've signed Du Preez, yet another kolpak, we desperately need him to compete and there doesn't exactly seem to be much more talent on offer but another kolpaks definitely not a good thing. I've gone from feeling all down to feeling we have a reasonable chance of doing well with some of our signings, even if we aren't going to win any matches we should compete :p
