yeah but I dont think silva helps out alot defensively though does he?Granted you probably dont need it though but that cant happen at utd in one word. rafael.
He's a pretty crap defender and people just like him because he scores a few goals and is brazilian.

No, he does not, and like you said he doesn't have to, because of the cover Fernandinho and Yaya provide for our full-backs.

Been waiting to see The Ox officially play in the mid-field role & damn what a performance today. Just like Lallana yesterday, ENG have two very highly technical & creative players who can play a on the flanks and anywhere in mid-field with equal competence.

2 goals and 1 assist in two starts this season, as well as some destructive play. He's finally matching his potential with performances. Previously he was just another Townsend with a few overrated performances. The competition for the B2B role will be insane in 6 weeks when Ramsey is back, when both of them and Wilshere are in the mix.

Chelsea?!

it's like a boozer telling you have a drinking problem.

First time Martin Samuel has wrote something unbiased, interesting, what exactly was the FFP originally supposed be? Always just assumed it was this elite-club protection scheme...

Ha first time?. Bit unfair to say that. Don't think any fan or serious journalist has a clear idea what's it about.

Pellegrini got it horribly wrong tactically, Dzeko and Negredo up front with Demichelis in midfield... the inclusion of Demichelis was unavoidable given the injuries to Fernandinho, Garcia and the recent return to fitness of Rodwell and Milner, but taking 57 minutes to realize that 3 midfielders were giving Toure a hard time, who I thought was our best player, was truly staggering.

I don't mind managers making tactical errors with selection, but not sorting them out quickly gets to me.

I was just being obnoxious.

watching demichelis in centre mid in that match reminded me a bit of when i sprained my thumb in a sunday league match playing in goal and for the cup game against top of the league only 10 others turned up so I got roped in late in the day to start in centre mid. Out of his depth doesn't even come close.

Pellegrini has a interesting love affair with Demichelis, poor player in general i think, even when he plays in defense. With Fernandinho out, i think Milner would have been a better choice centrally.

Garry Monk over Michael Laudrup, you must be joking:facepalm.

it's not like they have given him an 18 month Tim Sherwood contract.

the laudrup situation had been brewing quietly a for a while. I'm a little surprised he has been sacked but not exactly shocked.

Gary Monk is probably one of the best people to take short-term control. few people know the club better and that's essentially how caretaker managers work.

The reason I said that is I haven't seen anywhere that suggests he's just caretaker manager. It seems he is getting a Tim Sherwood contract on first look.

I think it can be petty comfortably assumed. the only words i've seen are "for the foreseeable future". means very little. You sort of have to look at what isn't being said due to all the double talk a lot of clubs use now.

Phrases like caretaker manager are being phased out. If he had the job the length of the contract would be known or it'd be clear he was permanently in charge.
