Thats asking a bit too much considering he has scored just one international goal. And he has played a decent amount of minutes. I expect our awesome left back Capdevila to get one, since he has a record of scoring once in five games!

mi peloton para domingo....

-----------------------Casillas-----------------------
--Ramos-------Puyol-----------Marchena----Capdevila--
------------------------Senna-------------------------
------Iniesta-------------Xavi--------------Silva--------
--------------------Fabregas---------------------------
-------------------------Torres------------------------

Obviously thats assuming Villa is not playing. Iniesta and Silva to keep switching sides that they have been doing so beautifully till now. Ramos and Capdevila to make their runs on the flanks as well.

If we are leading at half time we can replace Xavi with Alonso, if we are not we can replace one of the midfielders apart from Iniesta with Santi. Guiza to come on for Torres some point in the game.

Viva Espana para el victoria!

Mottys last game tomorrow. Hopefully the BBC announces Rio as the new commentator. Brrrrap.

Yes looks like Ballack and Villa will not be playing today. Shame really, two of the finest footballers in the world not being present in a game that is considered second only to the World Cup final.

Borowski is the obvious replacement, while Fabregas will play as a second striker-cum-attacking midfielder for us.

m_vaughan added 19 Minutes and 27 Seconds later...

Also, I know the final is not over yet, but I dont think that would change the team of the tournament drastically.

Here is my pick:

Casillas/Buffon
Ramos
Ignasevich
Chellini
Zhirkov/Lahm
Arda Turan/Schweinsteiger
Xavi/Sneijder
Ballack
Silva
Arshavin
Villa

Other noteable mentions: Nihat, Senna, Modric, Podolski, Klose, Corluka, Boruc, Puyol, Iniesta, Grosso.

Not long left now. Actually still more than 4 hours but that'll pass. Must admit that I am really nervous. On the basis of performance till now, we should be winning this tournament easily, but if that was how football went, then we should have played Holland in the semis, and would be facing Portugal tonight.

Anyways, seems certain now that Fabregas is going to start. Someone at AS was suggesting that Aragones play Guiza ahead of Torres because Torres has missed a few simple chances and if he does the same tonight, it might hurt us. Guiza has been far more clinical. Its a tough call, but I'd go with Torres because of his experience. If things dont work quite well, get Guiza on.

Also their defensive pairing of Metzelder-Mertesacker have been far from convincing, so goals shouldnt be a problem imo.

People are saying this game is going to be Discipline vs Flair, and I hope the latter wins because thats what makes the game exciting!

Viva Espana:happy:happy:happy

:D yep, plus the Champions League final in 2002.

Don't like the Spanish, but can't say they didn't deserve to win the tournament, Lehmann's face was funny enough afterwards anyway, especially when he went to touch the trophy during the presentation:p.
