The Highlanders lost Kyle Coetzer early while the pitch was still offering some movement to their pacers. After his dismissal, Michael Jones and Rassie van der Dussen quite expertly guided them with a 119-run partnership for the 2nd wicket which provided quite a cushion for the likes of AB de Villiers, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes who all managed to cash in with fifties too. Stokes in a rare display of savage hitting treated the game as a sixes match rather than a 50-overs one, dealing only in sixes during his knock which contained a stunning 7 sixes as opposed to zero fours on a ground that was way too small to contain him. Tim Murtagh endured a nightmarish finish to his spell being carted for 38 off his final 2 overs after bowling quite respectably prior to Stokes' assault with figures of 2 for 34 off 7 overs. Interestingly, all five batsmen following Coetzer managed to score more than fifty in the innings.

Hi guys, I know its been like almost 2 years since I officially began this season of the Europa Cup, but such has been the nature of life that for one reason or another I just haven't been able to complete it. Even lost my league managing mojo in between (I went literally 3 years without completing a league for a period), but have regained it somewhat thanks to my efforts with the ODI WC Draft league in the discussion forum to the point where I am pretty optimistic of making amends here at long last. So, who's with me?
This was where we left things off a year and a half ago:
As you can see, a lot has happened since then with a lot of players that were originally picked either retired, disgraced, or woefully out of form in some cases. Even a lot of team managers have gone inactive since then, so I would be open to new signups wherever I can find the space for them. Of all the departures though, the saddest is that of @NILAYSHAH60 who managed Hague Harriers alongside TSPrathik but was taken from us far too soon. RIP buddy
I will be doing a mid-season trading window after I post the remaining Round 4 matches that I already simmed way back but couldn't post, so you can adjust your squads according to the current cricketing landscape as of 2023 by trading out retired and out of form players.
