Europa League Thread

I am not sure what Liverpool were trying to do. Atleti dint play well either but were made to look good by Gerrard his troops.

Great result for Fulham. I expect them to finish the job back at Craven Cottage next week. :)

Fulham. Just bloody brilliant. Makes up for united going out of the Champions League for me. Hodgson's a genius.

Fantastic Fulham and Diego makes the Scousers cry again. Couldn't have asked for anything better.

Pathetico in the final. What a disgrace.
Only 3 wins in Europe all season. Would have expected at least one Spanish team to reach a European final this year, yet it wasn't Real or Barca, it was Atletico. :laugh

Liverpool didnt play bad. A very spirited effort, and we won on the night. Kuyt, Lucas and Benayoun were very good. Babel tried his heart out but just didn't do enough.

Well done to Fulham. Delighted to see them go through.

Happy to see Fulham in the Final. Good luck to them and I hope they win the final because they certainly deserve it more than Atletico Madrid.

Still disagree with the away goals rule counting in extra time, it should just be a clean slate.

Anyway, didn't see the game, sounds like they played alright. Time to play these last two games and forget about the season. As for Fulham, what an effort. I really think they'll go on and win it now. Would be great for English football if they did. Roy Hodgson needs to get manager of the year.

why?

Should the advantage of having home advantage for 30 minutes not count in extra time either?

for me it'd make more sense to say that awya goals shouldn't count, except in extra time, than to not count in extra time but to count in the two 90 minutes.

Because extra time is a lottery. Any side can snatch it. The advantage should be wiped, in my opinion, making it a level playing field seeing as the results had been tied over the two games.

Jose Mourinho always considered playing your second leg away from home to be better simply because you may get 120 minutes to score away goals, which is almost like scoring twice.

No, its just 30 minutes more football. With your logic the other 180 minutes is a lottery and its not. Defend well and you won't concede. Liverpool didn't defend well and paid the price.

Away goals should count in the WHOLE match That's the point in the away goal - it makes teams attack away from home. You wouldn't be saying they shouldn't count, had the shoe been on the other foot, and it was Liverpool going through because of the away goal.

DIEGO!!!! WOAH! DIEGO! WOAH! HE COMES FROM URAGUAY! HE MADE THE SCOURSERS CRY! DIGEGO!
