Europa League Thread

I knew you would come up with that line about 'I wouldn't be saying it if blah, blah, blah'. I don't care who it affects, this is MY opinion, and it was before last night and it still is now. If the scores are tied after two proper, full games of football then the scores should effectively by reset, in MY opinion. I don't actually care if none of you agree, I was just sharing MY opinion as that's what the forum is all about.

Don't try and use the line again on me please, it actually pisses me off when someone uses it in an argument. If I was being biased I would have ranted about it, instead I just made my point and moved on. In no way did I suggest Liverpool were hard done by it. I saw the goal, it was soft and the blame is on them.

I think its a very valid opinion. As I said before, the Special One too believes its an advantage to play the second leg on the away ground for the same reason. And I think a lot of people, including myself, will agree with that.

Its not just because of the Liverpool-Pathetico game, but we can use it as an example. Who deserved to go through is NOT the point here.

It's alright, maybe Real will make a final next year. :sarcasm Yeah, we totally didn't deserve to go through, all our wins this year were absolute flukes. Or maybe you're just a Real Madrid fan completely blinded by your hate for Atletico?

Torres out injured was a big loss for Liverpool imo.

Atletico have 2 finals now, Copa Del Ray and the Europa League. Pretty happy with that despite the performance in the Primera Liga being very inconsistent. Fulham are interesting opponents though. I do think they'll be very hungry for the win, and that is what Atletico need to watch out for. They need to bring the same intensity to the game.

Not a fan of the away goals rule either, but I'm not complaining. :p

I can understand about the CDR, but the only reason why you guys are in the final of the Europa League is because you failed to make it past the group stage of the Champions League.

It's not like the Franco circus did much better in the Champions League.

That certainly would be a disaster for Real Madrid unless the Europa League final is being held at Madrid. :laugh

P.S. Just kidding. XD

With our form at the beginning of the season, you expected us to make it past the group stages? Unfortunately, we don't splash randomly large amounts of money on players whenever we wish. We had one big chance to do so, and we brought in a young talent in Sergio Aguero, who we will eventually make a profit from. Salvio will take over from him, undoubtedly. With the players Atletico have, I think we'd be more successful in the Europa League. Nothing wrong with a team of Atletico's calibre playing the Europa League - we haven't won it recently, and winning the Europa League would only be a good sign, considering Atletico were in the 2nd division a couple seasons ago.

Absolutely disgrace. Three wins in Europe all season and they get the trophy. Shameful.

Thats where they belong. Mattress makers.

Kinda agree with that. But on the other hand, perhaps At.Madrid just have a little bit more quality in them on the night. Having said that, Fulham should be proud of what they have achieved this season and they could count themselves unlucky for the two goals they conceded.

Diego Forlan beat Fulham, not Atletico Madrid. Feel gutted for Fulham, they had a real chance and were just not quite good enough. Was an even game on the night, but you could see the 50+ games catching up on them at the end.

Roy Hodgson and his men can be very proud, though.

Happy to see Atletico win. It was a really good match though. Fulham can be proud of what they have achieved this season. Hopefully it will translate into a higher position in the premier league table next season as they can really take a lot of confidence out of this.

Looking forward to seeing El Kun in the Premier League next season (if the rumours are true).
