Extinction Of Allrounders.

What caused the extinction of allrounders from world cricket?

I've been impressed with Shakib as an all rounder. If Bangladesh can get some consistency with other players then they might win a few games with him.

Kallis, Flintoff, Oram, Vettori, Shakib, Watson, Hopes, Albie Morkel, Bravo, there are more than enough all-rounders in world cricket!

Exactly. Most of them have been injured quite a bit the last 5 years ish sadly. But they're out there.

how could you guys forget Pollock?
Jayasiriya? he got 300+ wickets

Shakib :p

are we talking about "ALL TIME"? if so, then Md Rafiq! :D, if not then you guys are missing Gayle

NZ and RSA came up with the best ALL ROUNDERS.

there is razzaq but he is baned!

when/if he comes back he could be the force he once was iif he puts enough effort into it

i agree with this guy.IF Razzaq had not gone to ICL he would have been the best in the world today.BTW if the best all rounder in around 10 to 15 years back is none other than Lance Klusner:hpraise

which Razzaq are we talking about? both of em are banned :p

NZ and RSA got the best ones

NZ: Oram, Vittori, Scott S. Harries, Craig McMillan, Chris Cairns, N. Astle, J. Ryder (?)

RSA: Kalies, Polly, Andrew Hall, Justin kemp (?), Lance Klusener, N. Boje, Ab Morkel,

I think some people are mixing up All-Rounders and batsman/bowlers who do a bit of the other discipline. Ryder, McMillan, Harris, Kemp, etc.

The biggest problem facing international all-rounders is the mass amount cricket of being played. They are very talented cricketers, thus will have a bigger workload.

Brian McMillian would be right up there with our great allrounders since readmission.

haha this is the area where I just can't open my mouth on Indian cricket team. Not only me, none can start like this Indian all-rounder is better than X-country's allrounder because....... We have no all rounders with us. :D

Seriously, thats been a problem for India for ages... But when we think, we don't have quality bowlers itself in first place, this all-rounder issue is minor. Oh well, don't start off again that Zaheer and Ishant please are quality bowlers. Horrible that we found only two bowlers in a decades time.

Last so called allrounder in India was.... was.... was.... Sanjay Bangar :happy

Well yeah, we haven't had a proper all-rounder since Kapil Dev. That said, most of today's all-rounders are bits and pieces players really. I'd rather have specialists in my team than such players. However, there are a few, like Kallis or Flintoff, who do bat as and bowl like specialists. I'd call only such players as all-rounders, a captain's dream come true.

Wasn't Irfan Pathan dubbed as the next Kapil Dev at the start of his carreer?

I have to agree of Shakib becoming a super allrounder for Bangladesh, He's stealing the headlines every match for them.
