Features you want to see in next iteration of Big Ant Cricket

You guys know how GTA V on PC has the Rockstar editor? Something like that in DBC16 would be sick. We could replay our favorite match moments on something Big Ant could set up like the R* social club. Like the other day I bowled an inswinging yorker and the batter hit the ball onto his foot and it rocketed up and was caught by the short fine leg and I was like god damnnnn I wish I could show people that. (On PS3 and don't have recording gear).

Due to overwhelming demand the next version is keyboard only.

Playing with Keyboard only will be big joke , Make Keyboard also an option but wondering how any one can handle keyboard for all shots , believe me Playing with Keyboard for all shots not Possible.

wondering for reverse sweep shot forward arrow + backward arrow + Left arrow + A(front foot) + W + Shift Now suddenly I decided to change the shot now what !!!!

The one who loves cricket game + bought the game will never feel problem with buying a gamepad , It not a big deal

Yup. I say let's file an online petition... better yet let's all march to Big Ant's headquarters. I can make it early tomorrow morning. Let me know if you are in and do bring along a few more folks (I recommend Naveencc).

ross confirmed to me earlier today that they were announcing a deal with sega to make the megadrive controller the officially, and indeed only available controller for BA Cricket 16. They haven't yet confirmed whether the game will have six button support, because who really needs more than three for a cricket game - EA's games never did!

a nice little planet cricket exclusive for you there

Things to be improved/changed
  • AI batting.
    • In every mode even in legendary, in say T20 or one day games, i usually get cheap AI wickets in form of 2-3 run outs per game.
    • AI does not seem to judge the quick singles very well when it plays the ball in mid off/on
    • AI does not bat based on the state of the game (Limited overs)
      • AI does not care about the target. 15 runs needed to win 6 balls, it plays defense and absolutely does not show any urgency!
      • While setting target, AI just does not show urgency in last set of overs or when the powerplay is on.
    • I dismiss the AI batsmen every game (T20) between the score of 70 to 115.
    • AI has trouble dealing with full length deliveries (yellow in controller) bowled by pacemen.
    • AI does not look and score in gaps. I leave wide open spaces on offside behind the wicket and no third man and AI never utilizes the gap.
  • Spin bowling
    • Would like to see consistent turn visually. The turn we see now is faint. Atleast world class bowlers must be able to turn the ball and we should be able to notice it visually!
    • No setting to increase decrease pace
  • Home/Away crowd dynamic
    • Currently crowd cheers every time!
I wll buy the game, if you guys can just release DBC 2014 + the AI batting fixes.
Rest is just a bonus, IMO

Had a great summer playing DBC 2014 on weekends.
Thanks for those amazing patches. You guys rock!

Gameplay stuff I'd like

Tie the bowling and batting difficulty closer together, or make them independent difficulty settings. At the moment, it feels like bowling is always easier than batting - if we could adjust them independently of each other that'd be sweet.

Tweaking the AI batsmen so they're less susceptible to yorkers (or just better generally!) would also be nice.

Academy stuff

Per-team modding is amazing. It'd be even better if sponsors could be determined on a kit-by-kit level, rather than for the whole team, so we could make different custom kits for FC, 50 overs, T20 etc. complete with arm patches and so on, without having to remember to change the team's identity back and forth.

I'd love to be able to download the latest roster, lineups etc. for a team without any of the other stuff (e.g. finding some tosser has made Jimmy Anderson a level 5 batsman or given Adil Rashid a red mohican or something).

Presentation stuff

The game seems to have loads of recorded audio for names but doesn't make much use of them in-match - it'd be good to drop some more player name mentions in rather than the generic expressions ("what can you tell us about this player?" "The bowler..." etc). Some more variations would be good too, and if there's a way to stop both commentators saying the exact same thing one after the other, that'd be grand.

I love the way the line-ups/weather report becomes the in-game scoreboard (it really impressed me the first time!), but some kind of on-screen graphic between that and the toss, using the team names in commentary where specified, would be amazing. "Welcome to today's game between [TEAM] and [TEAM] at [GROUND]. (Weather report chat like normal.) The two captains, [NAME] and [NAME], are down on the field for the coin toss...)

Just some suggestions, no idea how realistic they are!

Being a big fan of Co-op play...I would love:

-Option to bat for both sides [2 vs AI].
-Option to simulate [2 vs AI]
-Next batsman pop up always after a dismissal so that we can select the batsman we want to play with.
-2 vs 2 [4machines] .Hope BA guys come up with a way.Would be the best mode of gameplay.

If added 2 vs 2 then:

-Would like an on field/pitch chat system between the partners to discuss. Even pop ups with some option would also be fine. Like a list of options and players can select from the option to suggest what they feel like doing and how they want to approach. These can like short options Rotate, Slog, maintain wicket and some options to suggest what the player who is bowling might want to do play legside, bowls slower ones, varies lengths etc..In this bowler strategy discussion they can be made to select more than 1 option if it applies...Similarly for the bowler as well, the partner can suggest what the player[batsman] tries to do like goes legside ,bowl wider, vary pace, short ball surprise etc..
-A status bar above the player stating if he pauses the game so that others can wait a bit.

There are much more fundamental things needed before anything else:

1) Real cricket dismissals when bowling. Most wickets come from spooned catches to mid on/off or full tosses from spinners swept to square leg. That, and clean-bowled batsmen going for a huge drive, normally down the completely wrong line. The dismissals you get when batting are great, with a nice mixture of edges, bowled, LBW and catches in the outfield. A real shame that this doesn't happen when you bowl. I literally have one slips catch in over 100 hours of gameplay (according to the achievements list).

2) Proper AI batting. As someone said earlier, every 2020 the AI makes between about 90 and 130. Doesn't really matter the skill of the team. The run-chasing is also woeful. In the Aus vs Pak game which I detailed in the match experiences thread, I watched them just piss away deliveries. Bowling is still fun, despite this and the above point, but you generally don't get the sense of earning wickets.

3) A career mode that isn't static. This feature feels as though it was added on last minute without a lot of thought going into it. The fact that there is zero player progression around you completely kills it for me. We don't need to start at lower levels (under 19s etc), we just need a bit of player movement, retirement and regeneration.

These are the main three for me. Don't get me wrong, the game is still fun and I still play it to this day, bowling included. It's probably the best first entry in a sporting series ever. Can't wait for #2.

Yeah the points you mentioned are a must and those are known stuff which BA must make it better and competitive and get as realistic as possible...I have had moments where AI just leaves the balls that too off the last overs of a match and gives away a maiden....

Career mode definitely needs that variety which should be filled with surprises like change in the batting lineup, a pop up prompting what the captain wants you to do, a responsibility in your shoulders [that feel] should be brought in...Even for challenge let the captain set the field and make the career player bowl accordingly this way we thing like cricketers...

I have a massive wishlist for the sequel to DBC 14. The first installment was a great first effort and a solid platform to build off. However I can see major room for improvement that would make the next installment unbelievable.

DON BRADMAN ACADEMY: Simply to put it, it just needs more. More features, more custom brands, more of everything. The Academy could produce a wide variety of players, teams, uniforms but I just felt that despite the range of customization there wasn't enough sub customizables. For instance it could do with a wider variety of colours, more uniform patterns, more helmet designs, more hairstyles, etc. Some features it could include could be: logo maker/importer, custom stadiums, custom bat designs, custom shoe designer, customizeable stumps, customizable scoreboards and TV presentatio so you could make it look like Channel 9 was broadcasting the event, and much more to name.

PRESENTATION/GAMEPLAY: First off the commentary was a big let down in the first installment. In games like NBA 2K and EA Madden the commmentary really builds atmosphere and a sense of realism to the game. In tight situations or exciting circumstances the commentary was simply flat and boring and failed to build atmosphere in 14 and could be a simple but effective thing to fix in the next installment. Also tying in with this the crowd never changed depending on the circumstances it was always the same cheer when a wicket was taken and never created a good atmosphere in an exciting situation. Thirdly the mechanics in which a batsman is dismissed is often unrealistic and stupid. The common way to get dismissed was by getting and LBW by a ball swinging inwards and the batsman plays a cover drive, or a batter just spoons the ball to mid off on the hat trick ball. There was no real way to get a batter out you genuinely relied on luck instead of being able to construct a wicket by building pressure. Despite that the bowling aspect of the game was the best ever made. It was actually fun to bowl most of the time but you couldn't actually construct wickets as previously stated due to the way wickets were being taken. Another aspect that could be improved is the camera angles. The "Broadcast" angle is nothing like the actual thing in real life. If you are going to make a broadcast angle do it properly, things need to taken into consideration such as: When the commentators are talking about a player, get the close up of them like they do on the TV, and when there's a wicket taken get the super slo mo going not just the same angle of the wicket 3 times. These things all contribute to the feel of "I'm actually playing a game of cricket" kind of thing. Fielding animations need a complete do-over. There were no spectacular catches as there is in real life, it was just a shitty animation of some one diving and taking a one hander. Big Ant could take a leaf out of Ea's book with what they have done with the Madden Series. Not one catch is ever the same and it provides for a great entertainment and gameplay in the fact that you know you will get something different every time. All of these things contribute to it being not just a solid game, but a great game.

CAREER MODE: Arguably the part of the game that needs the most work done to it. There was no mention by the commentary team of an up and coming star making their debut or anything like that and it was pretty much just controlling one player in a series of matches. Here is a list of what could be done to improve the experience of this gamemode.
-Commentary: Commentators talking about the player and discussing what the player has done and how he is going and whether they like the look of him or not, you know the standard commentator bullshit.
-Sponsorships: This allows players to feel like there performance on the field actually means something. For instance if you have a run of poor form then you lose your sponsorship with a company, but on the flipside playing well gives you a range of offers from different companies and gives you the real feel of being a proffesional player.
-Signature Shots/Celebrations: Having a choice of how you celebrate a wicket, century, or even the victory of the ashes would add to the customization of the game.

There's my wishlist for DBC 16 comment your thoughts!! :)

My only wish is that the AI batting is fixed. I think we already have the complete cricket game. I just don't like how the Academy attributes don't play out in real. And yeah I could weaken all teams, but then what would be the difference between them?

They should just reduce the power of the players even when skills are high...People will always have the mentality to assign higher skills and attributes as no one wants a weak looking team...So they just need to find the balance and level out the points effect even when its full...Have the restriction in the highest speed to 145-148 thats it that too if he continuously bowls at that speed then make him fatigue fast and that must make him bowl slower, this would make sure the players use that fast ball as a weapon rather than a exploit...Increasing edges to badly timed shot or to shots they try to improvise [not for a catch but to make the player feel cautious to improvise every other ball]...
