Features you want to see in next iteration of Big Ant Cricket

Yes, this has come up before. It sounds like a terrible idea...I'm just amazed that people see this as a feature in FIFA rather than a complete rip-off. I'm not even sure how this would be possible with the Academy.
I get the appeal of playing cards, even if they're virtual playing cards... but I can't believe people continually pay money for them and thank EA for letting them do so. Other gaming companies must thank EA for making consumers so willing to hand over cash for nothing more than the chance to use characters that they can already use in the game.

Sorry to come across as Captain Commercial, but the microtransactions are the entire reason for having this gamemode. That's like saying "I want this cool feature, but without having to pay for it".

It boggles my mind how people are willing to spend real world money on players/cards in the mode! I say @BigAntStudios should go for a "Big Ant Championship Team" mode and allow people stupid enough to spend money in the game. I mean how can you go wrong with a "feature" which gets you potentially more customers and a way to get more revenue from the game. Hopefully this mode might help Big Ant subsidise the game for the rest of us :yes

Why not? Have a new online mode called "Big Ant Championship Team" mode where users can only play with the players they draft... and if they are not happy with the cards/players dealt them, they can "upgrade" to a better plyer or sets of players by dishing out extra cash. $1.99 per player gets them a Level 3 player (say Bailey), $2.49 gets them a Level 2 player (say Bravo) and $3.99 gets them a Level 1 player (say Root or Kohli). Of course if the user is willing to shell out $12.99 for a Level 2 pack he/she gets a team full of random Level 2 players and $24.99 Level 1 pack gets them a team of Level 1 players.

Maybe Big Ant can also link XP points to this mode so if you have 5000 XPs you can buy a Level 2 player and for 10000 XPs you can buy a Level 1 player. This way Big Ant can claim you don't have to purchase players with cash. And the rest of us can play with Academy created players in offline and online H2H (Head to Head) modes :p

Because no one is going to spend money on cards of Varun Kallis, Gerry Bender, James Rogers or Derek Baker

Oh that leads me to the interesting thought of do they have player drafts in Career mode. If Manager mode is added to this game I would probably bet on player drafts being implemented too.

"In there right mind"

But Technically @cricket_online did say...

So he does have a point... sort of lol... a crude one

But there is a difference between common or garden idiots buying real world licensed players and lesser spotted morons buying unlicensed ones...

I imagine the likely return would be minimal because it is a feature nobody but a few people would want. The idiots are a small subset of the market, and the morons a very small subset of the idiots.

Yeah of course @blockerdave

But whats the go with linking them to the academy? Would that be a workaround?

Dont get me wrong i wouldnt even touch it with your money :D

You're over-estimating the common sense of most people. Did you think before the advent of "Ultimate Team" mode that anyone in their right mind would spend money on virtual cards? I

As @LittleBigPlanet mentioned my business case relied on enough people without common sense buying the game. But the challenge is that there would be a huge overlap between the target market and folks who want a keyboard (read pirates or thieves). So the challenge would not be the number of morons playing the game but the number of morons playing the legal version of the game.

Well, one option could be that in the "Big Ant Team" mode you can only download the likeness of a player from DBC Academy with the attributes & skills not editable. So say a user purchases a Level 1 virtual card for "Jop Router", the user can log in to the academy and update the player to "Joe Root" along with the likeness similar to how the on-disc linked players are automatically downloaded from the academy. But the skills & attributes will not be editable for these "Big Ant Team" mode players/cards and only the likeness will be updated along with player name and stats.

But the challenge in this case would be that the folks who are willing to spend money on virtual player cards may not be willing enough to update the player likeness via the academy or simply not bright enough to see how the "player card update" works. After all you still see folks crying/asking about "licensed players" for DBC 17 on social media.

I think there would be significant image rights issues with allowing them to be libked to academy licenses and it simply wouldn't be worth the candle.

If they already had licenses and it was easy to do then i agree with @cricket_online they could put the mode in and let the idiots who want to pay for it. But unlicensed it just isn't worth it and especially not with the linking to academy

There probably isn't the volume of players in online multiplayer for a cricket game that would make such a feature feasible - in DBC14 even shortly after release it was fairly difficult to find a quick match without arranging one with someone in advance, and even when you did find one, most people only wanted to play 5 or 10 over matches. If you fracture and dilute this already small player base into different game modes then it's going to damage the whole multiplayer side of the game.

FIFA can get away with having H2H and Ultimate Team (rip-off mode) because there's such a large number of players online, and each has a healthy pool of players for matchmaking at pretty much any time of day; I can't really see this being the case with DBC unfortunately.

Nailed it...

ps. you can play FUT without paying a penny successfully.

While that's true and I did play FUT quite a bit in FIFA 15, spending real money on buying packs clearly gives an advantage and an increased chance of winning, and provides a huge shortcut towards building a strong team. It got pretty stale for me anyway with people only making the same old archetypes of teams (mostly fast black guys) and now I just stick to H2H with the real teams.

That sort of thing in a full price game (£35+) is ridiculous in my opinion. I find it bad enough in free to play/mobile games when microtransactions offer gameplay advantages, but in something for which you've already paid full price, it is crazy how willingly people accept this kind of thing and the fact they do so only incentivises this sort of practice to continue, and to grow and become more pervasive in the gaming industry. I don't mind cosmetic stuff in microtransactions (i.e. TF2 hats, Rocket League cars), but having stuff that affects gameplay and gives an advantage against other players be purchasable is something I despise.

I am not sure if this has been suggested but it would be wonderful to have an option to adjust the gameplay speed as in FIFA and PES. It would be easier to bat for people like me who have reflexes worse than Sid from Ice Age.
