FOOTBALL Fifa 12 - console and PC!

I'm struggling in defending too but I like it. You have to plan in defense too now. My Attack is nice and I've penetrated the defense of CPU countless times. Need to Improve the finishing. Can anyone give a tut on Free Kicks from 30 yards or less? I never scored a goal from them.

Anyone else find this funny, or am I just being immature?

After playing a lot more I think it's a big improvement from FIFA 11. The new defending system is a lot better, you need to be more intelligent and can't just hold down x until they charge down the player. It takes some getting used to but it is a lot better, however I'm finding it really hard to stop players who take the ball with their back to goal and then turn (Ibrahimovic is tearing me apart!).

P.S: I too started at Legendary but after a dozen games i dropped down to Professional. :p

Sensible man. I liked the defense at first, now I'm really beginning to love it. Reading of the game is so important now - see a man making a run? Use your defender to cover him, stuff like that. The main issue I'm having is finishing one on ones - it should be possible to simply put the ball somewhere the keeper can't actually get to.

This is what i've been trying to do. When a player midfielder is running with the ball and looking to cross it i would just press RB to put a man on him and then control the player who is nearest to the man he's going to cross the ball too. Sometimes it works and and sometimes it doesn't and i guess that's the way it is in real life. And the timing of tackle is really important now.

Even i'm having issues with finishing. The most of the goals i've scored are the ones where i have two strikers in the box. I just pass the ball to the second one and he does the rest to the open goal. Did some goals from headers too but none from free kicks yet :(

(Ibrahimovic is tearing me apart!).

I know the feeling mate. He did the same to my Barcelona last night :p He's unstoppable. Only match i won against Milan at Professional Difficulty was 2-2 draw which i won on penalties. Need to find a way to stop players like Ibrahimovic. I guess it is just the CPU who is so mean against us humans :p, Onilne matches should be more close and interesting.
I hope they release this on the same day in India too. But i know its highly unlikely and it would be delayed by 2 or 3 days:mad

----------

I forgot to mention about the best part of the game. It is so highly optimized. Its running without any slowdown on maximum settings on my 3 year old pc. No sweat even on very high resolutions.

Tactical defending needs a better understanding of the game. Need to watch those pre-match and post match shows of premier league. Last night i saw the post match show after Madrid's match and the host made some pretty good points about Pepe's defending. He showed where Pepe was unable to reach the Striker he jokeyed him till his two other defenders came back and then he went for the ball.:clap

Run at them with Iniesta or other good dribblers - pass/pass/pass/pass/goal won't work anymore! :)

lol, that was hilarious. It is something new so it would have some of these bugs. It will only get better with time.

:eek::lol

Those were epic. Couldn't stop laughing.

Wishing for more games like that, where you could wrestle with each other, like Mexes and Xavi.

Yep, it's like 'ragdoll' physics - remember what that was like at first? This will improve with time. One thing though, it seems most of these Impact Engine problems are posted regarding the console versions: maybe the PC's IE is better? I haven't seen any really bad ones at all - definitely not that broken leg one - that's some sort of glitch that I'm sure will be ironed out; maybe it's already been done for the final game. Remember, this demo is at least a few weeks, if not a couple of months, old. ;)

Early impressions from those who have the game early (EA Season Ticket or something) are massively positive - the majority are saying the game is much better than the demo - roll on next Friday! :D

A couple of douchebag Americans on Youtube gave the game a go. They know nothing about the game, and overall said it is pretty much the same as FIFA 11.

I still think PES has much better gameplay, but I will probably be buying FIFA this year, career mode looks amazing and I can't play a game where Arsenal is not licensed...

Well who would want to be seen in an arsenal shirt right now to be fair??:)

On topic,, after playing both demos continually,, having a broken leg leaves me lots of game time.. i have changed my mind from fifa to pes now.

Maybe because pes had so much more to improve on that it just feels better where fifa didnt have as much to prove... if you get what i mean?

Ouch - broken leg: when and how did you do that?? Get well soon anyway. :)

In the Fifa 12 demo, one of the criticisms I'd level at the game is the AI don't make enough runs - in that area, PES 12 looked great. Not any more. Look at the runs in this video:

The difference between the demo and the full game in that aspect is there for all to see! Even some of the most negative posters after playing the demo have changed their minds about the game now!

Here's another good vid:

When EA said that the AI is tweaked at the very last moment, I was sceptical: it's been my experience in the past that the demo closely resembles the full game, but going by these videos it appears that they were telling the truth. Not only are the AI making lots more runs, they're also making good diagonal runs as well! Roll on next Friday!!
