FIFA World Cup 2022 - Qatar

I also see that Iranian players didn’t sing their anthem before the game in solidarity with the protestors. After some of them received flack for not being more vocal in support it is good to see them be brave and commit to this. Funny how they’re willing to risk their own lives to make a gesture whilst the European nations couldn’t be bothered to wear a simple armband that they made such a fuss over because of the threat of yellow cards. Almost as if there’s a difference between truly believing in a cause and empty virtue signalling to earn brownie points….
Yeah, those same nations are flooded with "fast fashion" clothes manufctured by underpaid Bangladeshi labourers, the same ones for whom they want to stand up in Qatar. They'll stand in solidarity until it hits their exploitative capitalistic system

And now Fifa have asked Belgium to change their away jersey because it has the word Love which was due to the Tomorrowland festival. Where does the buck stop? :lol

Still can't believe England scored 6 goals.

Could be. Another 10 minutes of injury time in the second half. 24 in total. Although in fairness there was a lenghty concussion check in the first half.
Let's see what happens in the next couple games, if the pattern repeats.
10 minutes injury time in the second game too

Pierluigi Collina the GOAT has said that they’re accounting for the time consumed by even smaller breaks in play now which is why we’ve had these long stoppage times being given. If true this might be a game changer in football. Still think the sport’s being archaic about not introducing a clock that stops when the ball is out of play though.

Oh yeah, it’s common sense to just stop the clock. Although they would have to reduce the halves to 40 minute each? To not prolong the game too much

KSA beats Argentina!!!

FIFA WC'22 feat. Qudrat ka Nizaam bay-bayyyyy!!!

Saudi Arabia celebrating Eid early this time by stopping the GOAT. :spy

Probably one of the biggest upsets in WC history.

40 minutes each is still extremely long. IIRC someone did a study that showed most games without frequent interruptions were somewhat close to 60 minutes at max in playing time. I suppose that is a good place to start with. One of the presidential candidates years ago (was it Figo?) also ran on the premise of changing football to be this way.

Yeah, they could easily trial it in international friendlies, or maybe UEFA Nations League to start with.
Mexico playing pretty well against Poland. Lewandowski missed a penalty, but apart from that, Poland had only one shot, off target.

Strong defensive performance by Poland to keep this at 0-0. If they attack like this, don’t see them going through though.

Their offense has always been ‘Lewandowski and inshallah’ for a while though so not surprised. If Milik doesn’t show up they’ll be in for a tough time.
