FOOTBALL Football Manager Discussion

Can any one tell me some free transfer for Birmingham. I bought Doyle and Rat for a total of 7m. Offered a contract to Appiah but work permit application was rejected. Ronaldo snubbed me along with Gravesen and Davids.

My Chelsea game has become corrupt. It's the best game I've ever had. I won the league for both seasons. Won the Champions League, League Cup, FA Cup, Super Cup, Club World Championship, Charity Shield and qualified for the EURO's with Argentina.

What do people do to their comps? In nearly 10 years of playing CM/FM I've never had a game corrupt. Or in any PC save for that matter.

Oops sorry meant World Cup.

I don't know what I did, it's the first time it's ever happened to me.

Started a game as West Ham, and after 4 matches I'm on top with 8 points. A few teams have only played 3 games though - Arsenal in 3rd place is the main one.

Results:
(A) Birmingham 2-2
(H) Wigan 1-0
(A) Bolton 2-2 (after being 2-0 down after 33 minutes)
(H) Fulham 2-1

I take it your playing on FM08 seeing as you played Birmingham? Doing pretty well, although those are not the hardest opening 4 games you will ever play. A top 10 finish would be a great achievement with a team like West Ham.

Find it boring Rob? Try out this challenge then, I'm about to give it a go:

Last years 'AL. Challenge' was fairly successful. One of the most viewed challenges with 1700+ hits and a good few pages of comments and interest from other challengers. I also got a few emails so thanks everyone! Due to its late start date (fm08 had been out for ages before challenge got going) it went on a back burner in the run-up to FM09 but with the new version just released there is no excuse! so now for the new and improved challenge!

The Story:
You are a football journeyman who has just retired from non-league football and obtained the nessecery coaching badges to go into management. Knowing it will be difficult to find a job in europe you decide the best option is to learn your trade in a developing footballing nation. (You need to start this with 'automatic' reputation)

The League:
You need to start unemployed but the other catch is you need to start outside of europe in a 'developing football nation' somewhere like Asia, Oceania or Africa. Has to be small club with low reputation or a minor footballing nation. I was thinking somewhere like Hong Kong, Singapore, Mongolia, Cook Islands, Rwanda, India, El Salvador, Barbados etc you get the idea. (most nations become playable if you select 'upload all players from ...')

AL.s top tip: if you select A-League in australia as one of your playable divisions most small oceanic national teams become playable. Vanuata, Samoa and Cook Island all start mangerless and this is an ideal starting point. (even with auto-rep if you apply you should easily get a job with these nations)

The Team:
Any team you want (within guidelines above) also it will be luck of the draw given what jobs you successfully apply for or are offered.

The Aim
- To use your chosen team as a stepping stone into european management
- Or to improve your team/nation until they are a significant footballing power. (i.e take them to the Oceanic cup/World Cup etc)
- To win as many Trophies and honours as you can
- Ultimately become a World Reknowned manager

The Rules
- You must set your past experience to 'automatic' or 'sunday league player' and start unemployed
- You must post screen shots of your transfers after each window
- You must post screen shots of the manager overview at each window and at the end of the season
- Use this thread to keep progress of your game
- Tactics/player discussion is allowed
- Any questions/suggestions?

I suggest loading (hong kong, indonesia, singapore etc) leagues as your first steps into club football as well as Australia league (which gives national team options as described above) as well as loading blue sq north/south england and/or italy C2 as a logical jump into european management. (or even N.ireland)

Good Luck! You'll need it as this is one long and tough challenge! I'm going to use this game as the one I stick to for fm09, idea is I will build up a long and varied career with plenty twists and turns. I'll be playing this for the long haul but hoped some of you would like to join me and at least give it a go!

Taken from FMFormation.

Yep 08. And yeah it was an easy start, I just posted it because I figure it will be the only time I will be first all year :p

Beat Burnley 3-1 with Bellamy scoring a double. He is in top form for me, 5 goals in 5 games. i signed Arshavin and have been playing him up front but he has only scored twice, and I might move him to his AM where he is natural.

Aww damn :( Wouldn't it be annoying on a laptop though?

Lost to Chelsea 2-0 (they scored in the 92nd when I was pushing for an equaliser) then drew with Liverpool 2-2, which was actually quite frustrating. I was away against Chelsea and home against Liverpool. Dyer scored early for his first ever West Ham goal, then Carragher equalized with a header, Dyer then scored again before Torres equalized just before the break. I was annoyed at losing 2 advantages but it was a good result. I'm currently 6th after 6 matches. Chelsea, Arsenal, Manure and Liverpool take up the top 4 in that order. I'm just 1 point out of the top 4 so far. I really want to try and finish above 12th, as the media have predicted me to finish 15th. A top 10 finish would be great.

Well it worked on my old laptop, no idea why this one is so different. Keeps saying I need to put in my code from the back of the manual, when i do, it says its already in use. Would Daemon tools be of any use to me? And how would I go about it if it was?
