So he might actually be going to Madrid? Seriously this transfer window looks suicidal from Ramos, Zokora and Pennant. They are both mdiocre players and nowhere near Madrids level. Ashley Young is a top class player and looking at him is good stuff from Ramos though, he will do really well.
For once I agree. We seem to be signing average players. I had seen Lass play for Chelsea, and he was very very ordinary. I dont know what he did while at Arsenal and Portsmouth, but I doubt his quality is worth anywhere near 20 million or wearing a Real Madrid shirt. Especially when we have Fernando Gago and Javi Garcia as defensive midfielders already. Trouble is neither Gago or Garcia is as solid as Mohammadou Diarra, who is out for the rest of the season, and I think Ramos is making a big mistake in assuming Lass is the same quality player. I would love it if Lass proves me wrong, but I seriously doubt it.
Zokora too has not impressed me enough, at all to be honest. I did like his game while playing for Ivory Coast, but thats about it. Dont think he can cope up with an extremely tough and competitive league. I doubt we will sign him now that we've already got Lass.
As far as the wingers are concered, we have been linked with virtually every possible option on the planet. But again Pennant, Lennon, Bentley are not going to solve anything. We already have Robben returning to his best in the last couple of games, but we need another winger, because Robben has been injured very often. Drenthe is not good enough, although his hardwork and dedication has to be praised. I would have loved to seen a Silva, Joaquin, Capel or Cazorla make the move, but I know that wont happen, and I dont want Real Madrid to spend the crazy amounts that they have been tagged with.
So one option is look to the Castilla and Youth teams. Palanca looks good actually, but needs to play a few more games. Balboa did so well in pre-season, but then we decided to loan him out for some reason, just before Robinho left.
