Football Transfers Thread

Already Fabregas and Villa have already slated Robinho, saying they wouldn't go to City. And outside of players, Pele and Calderon have done it. Berbatov has said if he wanted the money he'd have gone to city or Chelsea.

Players might like money, but they won't want to be embarrassed by moving to city.

I suppose it's also the fact that he's guaranteed to start week in week out?

Roman Abramovich said he wouldn't go to City....

Only moneygrabbers will join City, and you can't be the biggest club in the world without a decently successful history. Their 3 stars on their shirt don't mean anything.

Proper footballers with ambition will not join City until they start consistently getting into the Champions League. Refreshing to hear Berbatov say "I want to play for the red shirt".

History can be created ant any times, where the hell ambition coming from ? If city get bunch of good players they can win both BPL and qualify of UEFA too. City is a good club and now will be better under the financial power of Faihm. With money City can take great players and they will. Money is the biggest distraction and hence it will distract many players. I really wish City can upset many clubs those who have underestimated them and now the replies will come one by one.

Barclay's Premier League I think he's referring to Matt.

The thing is, people can bleet about them not being able to sign all the biggest names because they're already at clubs like United, Barcelona, Inter etc. They don't need too. Where does everyone think these clubs get their star players from? Because the majority of the time (excluding United's golden generation and the old player such as Bojan) these clubs buy from smaller clubs, a market that Manchester City can now compete in. They don't need to try and sign Henry from Barca, Ronaldo from United etc. They can pray upon the best players in second tier teams. Players like Aguero from Athletico, Rafinha from Schalke, De Guzman from Feyenoord etc. It's an open market that they will easily be able to exploit, their only previous stumbling block was money, which isn't a problem anymore. Everyone can bleet about greedy players as well, and I agree that there are too many greedy players but if you put yourself in the situation of a 19 year old Brazilian kid who grew up in Rio de Janero who's parents have nothing, are you going to join a team like Athletico you may be able to aid your development into an initial burst, or are you going to join Manchester City throwing 15k a week at you, more money than your family will have ever seen? It's easy.

However I do agree with all these guys who are now 24/25, have earnt way more than enough money to set themselves up for life already but are demanding another 50k a week etc. It's a fickle business, and it's always going to be this way. It's a huge money market and it was always inevitable this is how it would go.

I don't feel you deserve a response in this forum, let alone in this thread, so I'm not gonna bother in future. Are you a city fan now?

Aguero would improve them, but would he honestly sign for City? No. Players may like money, but they also have self-respect and no self-respecting player would go there. Rafinha is a right back so wouldn't make them league winners.

List of players who have already come out and criticised Robinho:

Villa
Fabregas
And one other high profile one today whose name I can't remember.

Some of the things that City fans and the owner have said in the last week, well YCNMIU.

Their own fast food outlets:D.

Buying their own stadium. They could do a lot worse than looking at this site:

What a load of crap! It takes years and years to build a history! As for 'City is a good club'? Before these new owners turned up, they were languishing!

And as I said before, not all players will want to leave genuinely huge clubs for a club they've probably not even heard of before this takeover!

No doubt there will now be a massive influx of City fans. Hmm, I wonder why that could be?

If you like politics then maybe you're right.

What was the point in that post anyway, this discussion had nothing to do with Real Madrid apart from their sale of Robinho.

If Aguero had any self-respect then he would not have joined the scum that is Atletico.

It was kind of in response to

Athletico are now in the Champions League.

The comment that you quoted wasn't a dig at Madrid, more saying in response to another post that City wouldn't be the biggest club in the world.

Atletico are still shyte. They are only in the Champions League because Valencia had problems last season. Like I said, no self-respecting player would play for them.

But the reason you say that is because you "support" Real. I actually prefer Atletico tbh, Agüero, Simao, Reyes, Forlan, Rodriguez, Heitinga and Pernia are all players I like watching. Glad they're in the CL.
