Football Transfers Thread

Real Madrid goes for the best players. You can keep crying about morals for the rest of your life, because neither do I see anything wrong when you are paying good money to the selling club, nor do I care.

It must make you so proud that you don't care about making good players, just let other teams do the hard work and then you take the players when the building work is done.

Real have a ton of good youth players - they just don't use them because they buy superstars instead. Which, imo, is not the right way to run a football club.

They've called back Negredo though, but it hardly looks like he'll get enough games. I think the guy could be in the Spain NT for the next World Cup, if he gets enough games. And, they're definetely not going to use Granero, who I rate highly. Then, there's Mata who is doing brilliantly at Valencia, and Jose Manuel Jurado, at Atletico, who was brilliant on loan to Mallorca last season. Hopefully Atletico gives him a shot in the team this season, because he's the playmaker we need, but JMJ is probably going to be sold if a good offer comes in the club has said. =/

So yeah, Real should really take some time and look at their talent. That's what I love about Atletico - the youth team is absolutely brilliant at the moment. Sergio Keko is a beast, and should definetely get games this season - was the star of the U17 World Cup last year when Spain won, 2 goals in the finals too. Then, there's tons more highly rated guys who feature in Spain's youth squads regularly but are not as well known as Keko. Last season, Ignacio Camacho and Alvaro Dominguez had a good number of games. Home-grown talent should always be regarded as special. Real just don't have that policy - they'd win more trophies if they'd keep all their youngsters imo.

Nah, let 'em keep buying Portuguese, Brazilians and Martians - they'll be stuffed when it comes to playing in the Champions League.

@M Vaughan - the only reason you got Ronaldo is because it was a boyhood dream of his to play for you (for some reason). There's no reason why Obertan will be the same. And no other club spends ?180m in one summer - their government's money, not their own. Not even City (!)

Its funny how you keep coming back to the government non-sense. It really is funny.

And the reason why all these players want to play for Real is the history and the fact that we are the most successful club of all time, irrespective of how the team is performing at that point of time. I would not be surprised if Obertan has a similar dream to be honest.

EDIT: David Villa's dream however was to join the catalans, and it seems that deal is done. Announcement expected soon according to the Spanish media.

Oh, have a word with yourself! Last year and for quite a few seasons, you have been an absolute shambles! Why the hell would anyone want to play for that?

Edit: Villa's joined Barca? You're stuffed then: Barca, plus Villa = no league title for you again. And their defence is miles better than yours. That's the area you really need to strengthen, but you're too stupid to see that fact. You think swamping the team with eleven attackers will win you everything. It's going to be amusing watching that fall apart. Also, which eight 'home-grown' players are you lot going to play in the Champions League? Utd? Rooney, Ferdinand, Owen, Carrick, Hargreaves, Scholes, Foster - there's seven for you right there.

Villa to Barca, great sign :clap hahaha Madrid could not used their money power to secure Villa :laugh

We won back to back league titles in 2007 and 2008. So calling us shambles is a shamble in itself.

I would be lying if I said I am not disappointed on losing out on Villa. But Valencia did not want to sell and Villa preferred Barca over us, so nothing we can do.

End of the day, we have more than enough attacking options as alternatives, and although I dont think Benzema is quite the same player, I could still be wrong on that. Besides we have Higuain and Negredo.

Enough attacking options? You're not kidding. How are you possibly going to keep them all happy?

If I knew that I would be the manager and not Mr. Pelligrini. Although I would hate for any of them to leave, I think its better for both the club and the player, if one between Ruud and Huntelaar is sold.

For the most part I agree with you, but I it's not as if United actually grew those players themselves is it? Fair enough you nurtured them into the players they are now, but they aren't strictly 'home-grown' in terms of anything other than nationality.

The rule just says that eight players from the squad of 25 must be home-grown, out of which upto 4 can even be from another club in the same association.

Also by home-grown they mean players between age 15-21 who have been registered with the club for a minimum of three seasons. irrespective of their nationality or how long they have spent previously in any other club or country. Three seasons need not be continuous.

So by that:

Home Grown players:
Raul, Iker Casillas, Javi Garcia, Alvaro Negredo, Miguel Torres, Guti, Marcelo, Gonzalo Higuain, Michel Salgado, Daniel Parejo

Other club in same association:
Sergio Ramos, Raul Albiol, Ez Garay

So there you have it 14 players to choose from, when we need only 8. Mind you those are our usual squad members, and does not include Castilla and youth team players like Bueno, Anton and Palanca who were in the squad in the last season.

True - I meant English born players, not necessarily Man Utd youth players.
