Football Transfers Thread

I'm not that big a fan of Eto'o but if are willing to swap him for Ibrahimovic, they need their heads testing. Massively overrated.

He is a good player though. You probably are basing your opinion based on what you have seen of him, but if you have seen enough, you would know that this is a genuine goalscorer and matchwinner. I would have him over Benzema any day.

My problem however is that so is Eto'o and the deal seems to be a slap in the face for the Cameroonian.

So it really has to be because of something he keeps doing in the dressing room or at training which Barca are no longer willing to tolerate. Inter on the other hand will only let Zlatan go for the right price, which according to reports is something like 60 million euros.

But if Barca are smart they can get a lot more out of Eto'o. Dont compare Eto'o with Ruud because the former is still 28 years old.

Yeah, that's generally how I base my opinions.;)

I'd have Benzema over Ibrahimovic anyday. He doesn't do it when it matters.

Exactly, Zlatan's pretty fail in all important Champions League games. Benzema >>> Zlatan. Benzema hasn't even reached his peak yet.

Bad move from Barca I'd say. Hleb is a technically good player as well, but really shouldn't have left Arsenal where he was beginning to fit in quite well. Could say the same about Flamini.

Anywho, Man Utd have signed Mame Biram Diouf from Molde in Norway, where Fergie got Ole from ages ago. Never heard of Diouf, but he's scored a hat-trick in 9 minutes this season, and has a good goalscoring record. He'll come in January, as he'll return to Molde on loan and help them finish out the Norwegian season. Random signing, but I already rate him more than Owen. :p

Adebayor, I hate that tarantula-legged, Snoop Dogg-looking mother flipper.

Owen to United? Have fun on the bench son.

Actually, he came off the bench to score the winner today. Well done, Owen. Frankly guys, I find it ridiculous that he's not being given the chance to prove himself by a lot of fans. So what if he used to play for Liverpool? He plays for us now. Also, if Sir Alex was going to play him on the bench most of the time, why give him No.7? He'd give him a 'squad player' number, like No.32 for example. This guy is only 29 years old and has spent the last few years playing for a substandard side in Newcastle. Give him a chance! Just like Andy Cole when he came from Newcastle, he can become a more rounded player at Utd.

Owen is not, has never been and never will be, ████. He will always be a classy striker and he will score goals for United.

He won't score a goal in the league, he probably won't even be fit enough to play once.

I heard he was out for 3 months with jet lag.

Anyway, Adebayor is now at Eastlands. Buy someone with teh moneyz, eh begz youu!

Do all of these new City signings really think they can get away with saying the reason they're going there is "the city project"?:D

If they all flogged off to Sheffiled Wednesday, it would be a 'project'. But there would be something missing in a move like that. I can't put my finger on it...

At last, someone here who is actually talking sense about the guy. Everyone, from Christiano Ronaldo to various ex players and pundits are predicting that this will re-ignite his career. Did anyone see the match on MUTV? Objective point of view now, how did he do when he came on, other than the goal?

@Phil, you at least had the guts to say that you'd admit you were wrong if Owen proved a success, so what about you, Fox? Will you boo the guy if he starts banging them in? He's already off the mark pre-season. I just don't understand it at all: the guy is our player now, so surely the fans should get behind him as a member of the squad? I know he used to play for Liverpool, but don't you think that'd make it all the sweeter if he sticks a couple away at Anfield? Can you think of anything that would annoy them more than that, because I can't. Apart from us winning the league (again), of course. :D

It's nonsensical, that's all I've got to say about it.

When are we going to find our own oil baron to buy out these idiot window salesmen? Surely someone out there can see that, other than the debts, buying Utd would lead to unparallelled success for all parties concerned. Either way, I'm not hugely worried. Chelsea got taken over and had it their way for a couple of years, but now, once again we're not only competing with them, but beating them - three years in a row. It will be the same with City - if they actually manage to sign some defenders and break the top four, that is. I'd rather we didn't have some 'sugar daddy' owner, but everyone else is doing it, so I'd rather we did than we got left behind.
