hey he actually scored the winner for chelsea on is debut (own goal) :laugh
TBH i cant see any talent instilled in him :doh

Very happy that Hodgson has snapped up Joe Cole, although I'm a little surprised he went to Liverpool rather than somewhere like Tottenham.

Tottenham are apparently now interested in getting Craig Bellamy, and he could only cost ?3million. Bargain.

Great - Joe Cole's signed for Liverpool. Sir Alex missed a huge trick there - he admires the player and has done for ages, the player wanted to come to Utd and he was free! Why the hell didn't he sign him up?

Yeah whenever I have seen Smalling play, he has played a huge part in the opposition scoring. But he had two great headers in the second half.

Marvellous - I didn't realise that! :facepalm

Sir Alex signs a defender who often seems to be at fault for the opposition scoring, but he passes up a class player like Joe Cole! :facepalm

Some owners of a US baseball team are sniffing around Tottenham. My advice? Tell 'em where to go - look at what's happened to us!

Man Utd's loss is Liverpool's gain. At least he did not go to Arsenal in my opinion. :laugh And to be honest, it's rather strange that there isn't any news on who Sir Alex is going to buy or is he?

Peach of a signing. Now time to sell off Mascherano to fund the arrival of a quality Left Back, another CDM like Banega or Defour, and if possible a back up striker for Torres. That will make it for me.

Sell off Mascherano? Are you crazy? If Liverpool want to be successful they need Mascherano. He was one of Liverpool's best players last season and is certainly one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. If they sold Mascherano all that would be left in central midfield would be Gerrard and Cole who attack, Lucas who has had one good game when he was played up the field and Aquiliani who hasn't done anything of note yet. If Mascherano goes then Liverpool can kiss goodbye any hopes of making it back into the Champions League.

He's probably going to leave anyway. His agent and Masch himself have made that pretty clear.

Well, an ex Man Utd player on SSN is pretty sure we're going to sign 'three or four', but I wouldn't be surprised if we sign no-one. You see, one good game by Berbatov vs Celtic seems to have convinced Sir Alex that 'we have the right player'.

Having said all that, Sir Alex doesn't often get it wrong - I remember when Hughes, Kanchelskis and Ince all left in the same summer - 'Sold Trafford' screamed the headlines and Mr Hansen said 'you'll never win anything wi' kids' - we all know what happened then. Egg on face for Hansen and a double for Man Utd!. :)

Now Cole's signed for Liverpool, how will he play? Personally I think his best position is off the striker, basically where Gerrard plays. My guess is that Hodgson will play him as an inside out wide man on the left.

I'm actually happy that United didn't sign him. He wouldn't fit into the system and it would lower the game time of other talented players such as Gibson and Anderson. Not to mention the fact that Nani has come on leaps and bounds and I believe is ready to step up.
