Atletico Madrid would have been relegated if it wasn't for David De Gea. Thats how good he is, and he will be one of the top GKs in the English league along with Pepe Reina.
We need to make a good decision - after Schmeicel, we went from Barthez to Bosnic - via Taibi (remember him?) That cost us a good few years - our trophy count would've been even higher had we gone straight to Van der Sar. Erratic, you say? Sounds as though it might be a bit of a risk - but as you said, he is young and Man Utd know how to develop young players more than anyone. Speaking of which, the kids won their Cup again, as did the Reserves win their league - I wonder how long it will be before we see some of them in the Utd first team squad?

What happened to Asenjo? He was touted as the next big thing prior to De Gea's arrival on the scene.Atletico Madrid would have been relegated if it wasn't for David De Gea. Thats how good he is, and he will be one of the top GKs in the English league along with Pepe Reina.

Schalke deny Neuer agreement deal
But still if United go for De Gea, Neuer will obviously go to Bayern.
Neuer wants to stay in Germany I believe, so Bayern is the only option for him.
Regarding Asenjo he was fantastic at Valladolid but had an indifferent start at Atletico (defenders more to blame). He also got injured which gave De Gea the break - something he took with both hands. Asenjo couldn't take his place when he came back from injury. Went to Malaga on loan in Jan, but even there he got injured.
Asenjo is good, but De Gea is like Casillas - untouchable.
