Football Transfers Thread

Good luck Umair, can't wait to see you lining up against Sociedad.

Heard Ravel Morrison has joined West Ham for 1 million. Why would Utd sell him?

I see.

Other confirmed transfers:

Lucho Gonzalez (Marseille) -> FC Porto
Freddy Guarin (Porto) -> Inter
Taiwo (Milan), Djibril Cisse (Lazio) -> QPR
N. Jelavic (Rangers) -> Everton (10 mil?!)
Corluka (Tottenham) -> Leverkusen (loan)

lollolololol

still not confirmed either but as if everton have 10million to spend. 6million maximum but probably between 4 and 5.

That figure is high, it's for if we receive the maximum for all appearance/performance clauses. The official figure from everton was an "undisclosed fee" I've seen various websites reporting it as low as 1.5 and as high as 6. So that figure is effectively just guesswork.

But we also received ~ 10 million for Arteta and brought in two loan players and two free signings with the money going to the banks. So to assume we get that money for Bily to spend isn't exactly solid ground either.

Muntari to Milan lol. Who needs flamboyancy when you can have a midfield full of powerhouses?

Greeeeaaaaaatt! :rolleyes

Mate, it's Tottenham's time more than City's. Or Aston Villa's. Or several other Premiership teams. My point is before this takeover, City were nowhere, whereas Chelsea were already knocking at the door. And Utd being at the top because of being able to pay fees and wages wasn't dropped in our lap, we had to build it up over many years.

Still, enjoy it while it lasts, City because unless you can sort out these losses you're posting each year, it won't last long.

As for City not doing anything wrong? They're almost singlehandedly ruining English football. Unless something is done, and they find a way round the Financial rules, we'll have a situation where they're so far ahead of anyone, it'll be the world's most boring league. Sure, Utd win the league a lot, but there's usually one, or two teams pushing us all the way. As I said before, these new owners couldn't care less about English football. We badly need a new foreigner rule to make clubs like City unable to just cherry pick who they bloody well want and put more into their academies!

Ruining English football :facepalm
That was said when the maximum wage was removed in the 60's, and the first time a player got paid ?100 a week, and the first ?1 million transfer, please try and avoid overreacting so massively

And a foreign owner rule???? Are you insane???? If anything would ruin English football THAT would be it. I beleive that the English league is the best to watch in the world, and why is that? Because of the foreigners involved in the league.

The league is rich because of interest in asia etc, you cant tell people "Your not from this country, so you cant play with us, but you can watch if you pay", thats bordering on xenophobic, basically something I would expect from a Liverpool fan :rolleyes

If you get rid of forign investment then clubs wouldnt be able to pay as high wages or transfer fees, and therefore the likes of Van Der Vaart, Silva, Rooney, Van Persie, Aguero, Valencia, Nani et al would all be off to get wages 2 or 3 times higher in other countries.

Would you rather have players like Rooney and Nani at united or players like Marlon King and Stern John :p

The British may have invented the game, but the rest of the world made it beautiful.

The only part of your post I agree with is the youth investment part, clubs should be forces to put money into youth development, and the amounts should be directly in line with how much they spend on transfers, therefore the more players you sign, the more you have to put into youth football

The Premier League can't be the best league in the world AND be a predominantly English league. It has to be one or the either and I, along with most people I reckon, would prefer the former.

Pleased with our business in that transfer window. Leeds captain Jonny Howson for ?2m and Peterborough defender Ryan Bennett for ?3m. We are staying up!!

On the City and spending issue, something I have to come to realise recently is how relative it all is. In gross and net spending terms yes United may have spent less and recouped more but at the times of the 1990's the fees they were paying for players were big. Now, the fees Man City are also paying are big. It may just seems like City have spent more because the figures are now larger (and more inflated)...

City buying Pizzaro may be good for them, but is clearly going to limit Hargreaves' potential game time.
