Football Transfers Thread

So basically, they're living in massive compounds, somewhat like rich kings of a small country? Oh, in a really cool city in Moscow, and well, it's a good thing England is so racism free now. Especially in footballing terms :p Had he gone to a mid-table Italian club to do nothing but collect a pay packet, would that be a better or worse move than continuing to play for crap mid-table English sides? Or, is their potential for a year or two of something that could be very interesting (and yes, better paid than playing for a crap Blackburn team in a crap city). I'd rather spend the next 2 years in Moscow than Blackburn personally - especially if I was minted for it.

Sometimes people need to look at the world through the eyes of someone not English. It's a good country, but there's loads of interesting places to visit and spend some years. Moscow is certainly one. I wish more players would look to spend a year or two playing in other countries, as pretty much the entirety of the footballing world does... except England.

I have said this like a million times. There is nothing wrong with players moving for more money. Club football end of the day is a profession and you have the right to want to earn more.

Could you imagine 30,000 patients from the NHS stood outside a recently moved private GP screaming "JUDAS, JUDAS, JUDAS!"

Never really sure why football fans think that someone with no affiliation to the club, or the country, should show some kind of loyalty to a club that would be just as quick to ship them on if their performance dropped. As Benni Assou correctly pointed out when asked some years ago, "I am at Spurs for the money, and any footballer who says otherwise is lying."

Yeah he'll go to Man United.

Javi Martinez is another good option. Wouldn't mind him at Arsenal either.

Really liking the look of Yann M'Vila. I really hope we get him. He would also fit in really well at Man Utd.

Also been linked with Real, but I don't see what he'd do there with Xabi Alonso, Diarra and Khedira all already filling similar roles.

I think United should raid Newcastle next season and buy Cabaye, Tiote and Krul.

So you think they should buy a keeper when De Gea has actually settled in and now looks absolutely quality?

Interesting :p

Haha, yeah. In January I could understand but he's starting to fulfil his potential now.

Has looked a different person now he's settled in

He now makes the sort of saves that only the very best keepers make. I like how composed with the ball at his feet he is.

Although he's Spanish, so he's probably a better central midfielder than most English players.

Also Tiote's been a shadow of the player he was last season. Really been disappointed with him.

Plus Lindegaard is more than good enough as a backup.

Cech has been declining IMO, and I reckon Krul could go there, or possibly Liverpool as it's the same story for Reina.

Cabaye is undeniable class.

It's just so easy these days to say a goalkeeper is declining because of the mistakes he has made. Not denying he has done that this season but every top goalkeeper makes mistakes and he's still one of the best around.

Also, not sure why we should get Tim Krul when we already have Courtois, who is excelling at Atletico Madrid at the moment.

Forgot all about Courtois, brilliant keeper.

No-one can deny he is declining to some extent. He just isn't as reliable as he once was. Remember how scared opposition strikers would've been of not being able to beat him? That's definitely no longer the case.

Anyway, brilliant keepers make mistakes, but minimise them. Can't fully say that of Cech.
