Asier Illarramendi joins Real Madrid from Real Sociedad in ?34m deal | Football | guardian.co.uk

That's 3 deep-lying playmakers Real have got now(4 if you count Sahin), so surely one of them is on the way out... I'm thinking it's the old(er) one. :p

Juventus complete Ogbonna deal - ESPN FC

I know he didn't have the best of seasons last, but still, a superb signing for Juve.

I don't know if these guys can be trusted, but widespread rumors in Italy and in England has it that Jovetic to City is in "advanced talks", what a signing that would be!

-----Fernandinho---Yaya Toure-----

Very talented player, but 34m for Illarramendi is just madness. They better pay 80m if they want Suarez in that case. :rolleyes

They had no choice but to trigger the release clause though, Sociedad were unwilling to negotiate...

Arsenal pursuing Higuain & Suarez in hope of signing one. No fee agreed on Higuain, probably need to pay ?40m release clause for Suarez #afc

Not so sure about that 80 m...

yeah they'd be biting themselves if they did. :p

Quick thoughts on Chelsea since mou arrived. Their overstayed deadwood is finally released and he's brought some proper young depth by bringing back Lukaku and de Bruyne.

New signings have broadened an already strong attack. Schurrle is a top signing and Van ginkel's addition to their deep mids completes the depth.

Essien, Obi and now in van ginkel, essentially the one position Chelsea lost the steam in at the end of their season but they've invested well into the issue this time around.

Mark schwarzer's is a smart move. Somehow saw it coming with Turnbull released and Courtois on loan again. More than just a decent backup for Cech..

Good time for Chelsea to bring about their reserves into the play. Likes of Ake, Piazon, Chalobah (had a good run at watford) and the already regular Bertrand are positive prospects. But I expect more to leave by the end of the transfer window. They have too many first team guys than they could use and maybe that could cause problems of all sorts between their players.

Liverpool Echo, which basically feeds stuff directly from Liverpool football club more or less, reported Suarez had no release clause in his contract, and that it'd need a bid in excess of 45mp plus a written transfer request from Luis to even consider negotiating...

Of course he isn't worth 80m, but hey, we can always play hardball, you know? :spy

If there was a release clause in his contract we would've all known by now... that sort of thing gets out fairly easily and with Suarez being a top class striker, it would've definitely got out, so no, I'm not sold whatsoever on the supposed ?40m release clause.

Radamel Falcao? Edinson Cavani? We knew of their release clause's way before their clubs started whoring them out...

Also an amusing piece in the echo today by James pearce on suarez I assume you have read says this "'He heaped shame on the club when he racially abused Patrice Evra & refused to sake his hand'"

Here is a quote from the same guy in the aftermath of said racial abuse "'This was a case of 1 players word against another. Remarkably the panel decided Evra was a more reliable witness' "

made me laugh.

i haven't read it, but I think you've misread my post.

I'm basically saying the guy who wrote it has no credibility and is just writing populist stuff.

Liverpool definitely aren't going to release his release clause, quite simply because they most certainly aren't going to replace him with someone who has his skillset or someone with near his ability, such players are going for around 30 m minimum these days. So that's why it would make sense for the club's mouthpiece to not release such information.

I believe Ornstein, I've been with him the last three transfer windows, he has never gotten anything wrong and people like him are the reason why BBC are so reliable.

Release clauses can definitely be kept in the dark, as we saw with Demba Ba had Harry not released it no-one would've known or at least it would have been delayed.

In Spain release clauses must be written into their contracts by law so of course they'll be advertised, especially for a club like Atletico who need the money. Same for Cavani, they will definitely release info about his massive release clause as they know it's a great deal for them if someone pays it. Often the players can release the info as well.

I don't think Suarez will be at Liverpool next season, I reckon us threatening Madrid by going in for him will make them sell us Higuain so they have the money to buy Suarez.

I don't agree Chelsea are necessarily going in the right direction. Schurrle is overrated and barely better than Moses for me, Schwarzer is good but unnecessary and van Ginkel definitely won't settle immediately. Plus Chelsea is absolutely the worst team for young players like him, de Bruyne and Lukaku so I'm not sure they'll make much of an impact this season. Lukaku won't be as good as he was for West Brom, especially with Abramovich's insistence on Torres playing and the presence of Demba Ba.

They definitely aren't favourites for the title, I'd as usual definitely put Man City ahead of them and possibly Man Utd too.
