Football Transfers Thread

I don't think so; he'll let his contract run down and then he'll be off - most likely back to Old Trafford.

You really think Real will let Cristiano go off on the free? A player who they payed ?80m for might I add... :rolleyes

Imagine this:

2014: Xabi Alonso -> Liverpool (free)
2015: Cristiano Ronaldo -> Man Utd (free)

Scary possibility that awaits Real Madrid tbh.

Rumor has it in Spain that Xabi Alonso will be off this summer (to Liverpool) with the imminent arrival of Asier Illarramendi of Real Sociedad - tipped to be the next Xabi Alonso.

Yeah heard about the Illarramendi rumors. Watched him in the Euro U21's. Terrific prospect. Xabi Alonso though....

Liverpool miss out on Xabi Alonso and Henrikh Mkhitaryan | Mail Online

"The Premier League? No." he said when asked if he was moving back this summer. "No way, no chance."

I saw that too, but I just can't see Real bringing in Isco and Illarramendi while still keeping Kaka and Alonso on their books, both of whom have now come out and said they won't be going off this summer... and clubs hardly ever let players go off on the free, so we'll see how this transpires.

Is it just me who doesn't get how signing players who got their club relegated last season is a good idea? The manager is bad enough.

Kone is a good player, bit brainless but quick and good finisher so that's a good signing, some pace in the Everton attack now with him and Mirallas there.

Joel Robles played well for Wigan last year as well after displacing Al-Habsi, very good back-up option.

Alcaraz is a poor signing though as a budget squad option not much of a worry.

Everton are on a tight budget as usual so I think Martinez is trying to pick up some players that he knows could do a job at Everton. Better signings could still follow.

I love it when fans are delusional.

Ronaldo is NOT going back to Man Utd and Xabi Alonso is NOT going back to Liverpool (he physically wouldn't handle the PL anyway IMO), take off the tinted sunglasses. Especially Ronaldo.

Shakhtar confirm Mkhitaryan sale - ESPN FC

?23.7m have Shakhtar squeezed out of this deal, that certainly makes me feel better about the ?30m signing of Fernandinho. :p

Perez: No offers for Higuain - ESPN FC

C'mon Arsenal, pull the trigger already!

Eriksen 'still hoping to move' - ESPN FC

I for one can see Barcelona coming in for him if Thiago goes off...

BBC Sport - Swansea close to ?13m deal for Wilfried Bony

Well done Swansea!

Toulalan completes Monaco move - ESPN FC

Missed this one in the midst of some bigger players moving in the last week or so, but what a squad Monaco are putting together, should give PSG a good run I reckon.

Florentino Perez says Cristiano Ronaldo will retire at Real Madrid - ESPN FC

:rolleyes

Nowhere.

Some good signings there. Mkhitaryan is a very good player, but I think one of the later players you've mentioned there Eriksen would be a more natural replacement for Gotze. I reckon if he goes to Dortmund they are stronger with Mkhitaryan and Eriksen than just Gotze. Dortmund are still very much in it.

Also very good business getting Aubameyang in early to make the possible loss of Lewandowski felt much less. I'd like to see him stay though and play second fiddle to Aubameyang as they try to bed him into the team.

Toulalan is a very good midfielder. The Malaga exodus is in full swing after their CL ban. Isco, Toulalan and Joaquin all gone not to mention Cazorla, Monreal, Rondon and Apono all gone the season before. They'll be battling relegation perhaps, they've replaced them with some real budget ~1 m euro signings.

Interesting Laudrup getting his wish of being able to spend more than 5-7 m on a player. Bony may not fit in with their style I reckon, he isn't that quick and he's not really one to fit into a passing game, I thought he'd do a better job somewhere like West Ham. Still, he can definitely score goals so could turn out being a great signing. I find it quite sad that their transfer record is now almost as high as ours:facepalm.

Looks like we won't get Higuain now. If he doesn't stay at Madrid I could definitely see Chelsea or City going in for him. Though he'd have to be a guaranteed starter or else he could just stay at Madrid and rotate there.

Ronaldo has repeatedly said he'd like to return to Man Utd one day. That's not delusion, it's a fact from the horse's mouth so to speak.

The only guy spouting nonsense that he'll retire at Madrid is the President, and he has not control over Ronaldo's wishes whatsoever - he can't control his mind or his heart. Sure, Ronaldo won't be returning this year but when is contract is up, or a year before, he'll be on the move - I don't see him signing up again for Real Madrid. And the only place I can see him leaving Real for is Old Trafford.

Guess you missed this one...

The thing with the Alonso rumors that kinda sells me off is his age, he's 31, this is sorta the age to return to the club you love and what not, and ofc, Real lining up bids for Illarramendi.

I don't see the lure for him to go back, especially without Fergie there.

Ronaldo was reportedly happy to see the back of Mourinho as well, so I can see him wanting to stay even more than before.

if you phrase it like that then it doesn't sound good.

But Alcaraz had injuries and played <10 league matches. When he played more than that in the other seasons he stayed up.

Kone still managed to get into double figures playing for a relegated side. How many goals did anichebe and jelavic get playing for a side that finished in the top 6?

Robles and Alcaraz both played and kept a cleansheet in the cup final against city.

They certainly aren't signings to get excited about, but our squad is definitely better with them in it than not.

Everton definitely finishing above Liverpool this season I reckon.

Too early to predict, don't you feel? It's only really been 11 days since the transfer window opened. As things stand though, yeah, maybe. "Definitely" is exaggerating it.

You guys already look to have made the majority of your transfers, and none of them excite me really. Mignolet is a good keeper, but he is still fairly error prone and isn't as good as say Reina was at his peak. Everyone else is very average.

Plus you add that Suarez is almost definitely off and things aren't looking good. I don't think you'll replace him with someone nearly as good and if Aspas or Sturridge are his replacement then it'll be a long season for you guys.

Everton on the other hand have to hold on to Baines then they should be in a better position. They were better last season and even with the new manager things should work out fine I think.

Mind you definitely is an exaggeration I'll agree.
