He never rejected Man Utd, and Arsenal are definitely a much better location for him than City or Chelsea who were the teams in for him. He is 19 and needs to play, he would barely play at Chelsea and City. If he plays he will be one of the best players in the world easily, one of the brightest spots of the German national team. We also have a decent German contingent at Arsenal, I can see him wanting to come to us, or any team where he'll actually play for that matter.

We're not in for him though so nothing to worry. Wenger likes going for these sorts of untouchable players so that he can say "he tried", he has no intention of breaking his transfer record.

Interesting, he just said he wouldn't mind leaving. The poor soul thinks we'll actually bid.

Would be a brilliant signing for Man Utd, he can play as a winger or as a number 10 (his preferred position). He is better than all their wingers and more skillful than Rooney and Kagawa, would be a good signing, future hero of the German national team!

Mind you I think Schalke will be very hesitant to sell, they know he is superb and they know he will be worth more next summer, plus they don't really have a replacement.

Viviano is a decent backup, same for Sakho. Arsenal do need some depth, and Viviano's better than Mannone anyway.

Sakho is far too overpriced. Especially if he came to us, he'd be 4th choice. That much for a 4th choice defender?

Lol are you serious? He is not France's 3rd choice CB. Koscielny and Rami have been starting for a while now. Then there's Mangala who's been preferred recently, and he comes in around Yanga-Mbiwa and Varane. He's at best 4th choice for France, after Koscielny, Rami and Varane, and that's being generous and putting him ahead of Yanga-Mbiwa and Mangala.

He has stagnated heavily in the last couple of seasons. He was a hot property a couple of seasons ago, now he isn't. ?19 m is an awful price to pay for him, reminds me of the Borini and Allen deals. He is error-prone. He can become a good defender but right now he's so painfully average and would easily be 4th choice at Arsenal. But he will be starting for Liverpool.

An overpay by ?40-50 m. I guess they bought him more to appease the fans though, Bale was the only player they could buy, not even Suarez.
