Football Transfers Thread

Don't make too much of that. What I find quite odd is Alonso, who's on the same boat as Pirlo (1 year to run, no extension) isn't getting half the attention from the media that Pirlo's got, probably has to do with him being out injured atm.

Pirlo to Tottenham:lol.

You'd think they have enough midfielders, and surely he has better options than Tottenham.

while this thread is active, would anyone mind if come mid decemeber I start a "football transfers 2014" thread? trying to tidy up this forum a bit since it's becoming quite popular and having threads with several thousand replies makes it a bit unwieldy. or would it be better to wait for a new season?

Yeah good idea. Make one for every season in each league for each league thread and a new transfer thread each window.

Nah, just keep it as is.

going to do it now, just out of spite.

(in all seriousness I probably am, been about 100 pages of replies in 2013, enough to constitute a new thread every year)

Newcastle want to sign Manchester City's Micah Richards | Mail Online

Like Chelsea, Man City is the big English club who young English players who are talent fair chances. Sturridge as we all now had to reach Liverpool to prove himself. Man City never wanted to trust Adam Johnson's ability & he found himself at Spurs.

Richards is too talented IMO to be on the bench, so this could be an interesting potential move for him especially in a world cup year.

Sunderland buddy ;)

Apparently we're linked to be in for him as well this Jan, but it would make absolutely no sense, unless the Skrtel to Zenit for 15M rumors are true.

I think Richards is very talented but inconsistent and someone who hasn't fulfilled his potential, he needs a move where he'll play to take him to the next level.

He won't get enough of a look in at Liverpool IMO, pointless move. He's an Arsenal fan I think, he could do a job there maybe. Other than that maybe he'll have to go down to a mid-table team if he stays in England, most of the top clubs except United are pretty much sorted at RB and CB.

Richards spends basically all of last season injured and we're at fault? Hell, he even started this season injured... the season we won the title, Richards made 37 apps (29 in the league), the same amount Zabaleta made last season in his absence.

The way forward is Zabaleta at LB and Richards at RB.

Good shout, I can see Man City selling Clichy and going out for another LB instead though, maybe Coentrao. It's Man City after all. They'll probably hold onto Kolarov as a backup a bit longer.
