Football Transfers Thread

Hopefully Liverpool can sign Pastore in January. That would be a big boost for us to the top 4 spot, but sadly the London club
Arsenal
are interested.

Arsenal would never buy Pastore, they have much better midfielders sitting on the bench for them.

You've got to be sceptic about Pastore, but the Liverpool scouts usually know what they're doing these days, so maybe he could turn out well if they do buy him. (a big if about the buying part)

Signed Aspas and Alberto for 15m, and passed up on Eriksen who was whoring himself out to us for just 11m (already won Spurs' September Player of the Month award as well). Yep, our scouts sure do know what they're doing........not!

(still think Alberto's good, just hasn't been given enough chances to prove his worth)

aye, Eriksen is a real puzzle. everyone in europe with even a passing interest in football was aware he was hotly tipped. Ok so maybe wasn't quite turning out to be the next world player of the year like was suggested when he was 18 but still pretty good. Then he became available for a very reasonable price in todays crazy market and struggled to find a team to pick him up.

Milan were linked a few times in summer too, we chose to bring in matri for the money and then brought kaka and birsa in that position (birsa in fairness has proved quite a smart signing)

Tbf Eriksen's form can be shaky at times, and Alberto is a great pick up also (could be in the first XI when Gerrard Retires) but I think we are judging Aspas to quickly because of that one game against Swansea, he was solid at the opening game made some good passes and got us that first goal really.

Future XI
GK Mignolet
LB Jose Enrique (Possibly a replacement)
CB Sakho
CB Agger
RB Johnson (Possibly a replacement)
RM Suso
CDM Lucas
CAM Alberto
LM Coutinho
RS Suarez
LS Sturridge

Aspas is awful, worst signing of the summer without a doubt. It's amazing that Liverpool paid money for him.

Luis Alberto was never going to light the league up, he has the potential to be decent but will never light the league up and represents poor value for a player at his current level. Everton got the better Barcelona B player by far, albeit only on loan.

Fellaini for 28.5M :D

ETA:

IMO, a fully fit Liverpool XI are only a couple of signings away from being genuine top four contenders - a DM to replace Lucas, and an LB to replace Enrique. Possibly an LW as well, considering Moses is only on loan..

----------------------Sturridge---------------
Konoplyanka?----Coutinho----------------Suarez
--------------Matuidi?--------Gerrard-------
Shaw?----Sakho/Agger--------Skrtel----------Johnson
---------------------Mignolet---------------

Konoplyanka and Matuidi are both into the final year of their respective contracts, and hence are available for peanuts. The latter would be such a terrific coup for any club, let alone a fighting Liverpool side. Luke Shaw could cost a lot of millions but he's probably worth it, considering he's leagues above Enrique or Cissokho..

Also going to need a long term successor to Gerrard at CM, but that can wait until the summer imo. Henderson and Allen are good enough squad players to play CM, but they are never really going to take our already mediocre midfield to the next level.

Also how good is Will Hughes? Never seen him play, but strong rumors of Wisdom heading on loan to Derby to sweeten up our pursuit for Hughes..

Fellaini can score of set-pieces though. I'm not sure what Aspas can do. At least we got this out of it though: YAGO USPAS - YouTube.

Jesus Navas is really bad as well, he's been horrible other than the Man Utd game. HORRIBLE.

I mentioned Fellaini because, in terms of 'money for value', 28.5m is an awful lot for him. Far worse than 7.2m for Aspas. Obviously is a much better player than our Spanish Borini though.

but ?11m!!!! you're not paying for Ozil at that but it's remarkably good value if you need a clever playmaker. Liverpool and Milan could have both used someone like that and realistically couldn't have attracted players of the formers quality nor afforded them.

Tottenham seemed to just pick him up though because no one could be bothered and they had pots of cash lying around, which would be understandable if he was like Michu or someone that no one had really heard of before, but everyone in europe knew about eriksen.

The term is 'value for money' mate;).

Yeah true, I suppose you could put Navas in the same category.

I think we'll see a better bargain when Keisuke Honda joins your lot. He's an absolutely brilliant player and has been unlucky to be in Russia for so long.

I really hope Assaidi leaves Liverpool for good, such a wasted talent he is so far. And Khedira on his way to Chelsea in January? I don't know what Mou is doing with so many midfielders so far, I wonder if Mata will stay.
