Apparently Podolski is staying... Remy would be a good pick up for the £8.5m release clause for CL teams alone though.[DOUBLEPOST=1409069784][/DOUBLEPOST]Bayern Munich complete the signing of Mehdi Benatia from Roma | Football | theguardian.com

Reported to be €26m + €4m bonus, we so dropped the ball on him, should've got him instead of Mangala, especially with him being a Porto player and thus the fee involved with him, but whatever, well done Bayern.

Ye that's a big signing. I was wondering i Roma was really strong enough to keep him. I wonder now if this could be a sign that other Juve & Forentina now will sell Vidal & Cuadrado if the right money comes in.

BBC Sport - Manchester United: Angel Di Maria can thrive as Old Trafford star man

quote said:
"The ever astute Jonathan Wilson, author of Inverting the Pyramid: The History of Football Tactics, described him recently as "tactically probably the most important member of the Real Madrid side in 2013-14" in his deeper midfield role.

"He pulled wide when Cristiano Ronaldo went inside. He shuttled to provide the link between the midfield of Xabi Alonso (or Sami Khedira in the Champions League final) and Luka Modric and the forward line, [and] he sat in when Marcelo overlapped him from full-back," explained Wilson, who judges that Real's decision to let Di Maria go could prove as foolish as the similar blunder they made with Claude Makelele just over a decade ago"

I see a correlation with the Makelele sale indeed...

That's just the state of Serie A really, but there's a sense with Vidal and Juve that he would end up staying, he doesn't seem to be pushing for a move like Benatia was and to a certain extent Cuadrado seems to be, and while Juve are in the same boat as Roma and Fiorentina, they're slightly a bigger club with European ambitions... Barca also tweaked up not going for Benatia hard (just like they failed to do with Thiago Silva in 2012), to think Benatia just cost €10m more than Mathieu, absolute bargain.

Apperently LVG is weighing up a 20mil move for Joe Allen, if he does bid I really hope BR accepts it and looks for some like Khedira who will only cost few million more.

Khedira's staying at Real I believe, they got more than enough money off Di Maria to make a late play for Falcao.

Encase they fall short they will surely have Khedira on the leaving list, but that depends on how much they want Falcao.

I highly doubt Falcao will cost more than £60m and even if he did, Real I'm sure have quite a bit leftover from their own budget, they weren't solely relying on money from the Di Maria transfer.

60m is too much given Madrid do need to sell him. I don't see how he's worth 60m to man u and real madrid certainly needed to sell more than they needed to buy (another attacking midfielder).

much as I've thought thedons slagging off as man u as desirable transfer destination was over-blown the 4-0 defeat to MK dons is certainly not something they can keep repeating, that sort of thing really does chip at the reputation of a club and you have to redeem yourself.

The players agree with me - Di Maria had no other option, other than that, of all the big names they've chased, exactly how many ended up there? None. This is keeping in mind the wages the players would be offered and the transfer fees.

Or maybe the players just don't like Chevrolet.

nah, that's not true. luke shaw was chased by chelsea, and yeah, they did offer way more but shaw could have easily rejected man u and forced through a chelsea move. similarly, Di Maria is one of the biggest signings of the market, you can't just say "except for that one, world class player they got, who else?" and PSG were after him too. city and chelsea haven't really made any more impressive signings, fabergas is good but it was similar situation to Di Maria, barcelona wanted him out.

yeah, they've missed out on a few players they've been after, but herrera, shaw and di maria is not the summer spending of a club that's undesirable, it's arguably the most glitzy in the EPL. I think you're setting unrealistic expectations if you expect them to qualify their reputation by signing every world class player available in the market, they've never done that before. madrid outgunned them for James, but Madrid have always been the pinnacle, they wouldn't have lost Ronaldo to them if they weren't.

I do think though players of similar sature to di maria and shaw would have been having second thoughts though if they make embarrassing themselves a more common thing.

Cuadrado would be a perfect buy for United if they can get rid of Young, Valencia, Welbeck - funny to think that Luiz cost PSG more than, than Benatia ha...

Came out of nowhere that, Khedira's staying and instead Alonso is going out... Bayern looking hella strong now though, as if they need it.

Barca as well have pulled out of the running for Cuadrado (similar to PSG and Di Maria) and instead have gone for the little known Douglas, so there's a clear opening for United if they can meet Fiorentina's valuation and convince Cuadrado to join them with the help of something known as money... but PSG, completely blew their spending limit on Luiz, so early into the window too, hilarious how they ended up having to take Aurier on loan instead of a permanent move.
